IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. We lived up north street when they took the mill down and built the flats that now sit in the old site. From the look of the brick and stone works that have come down, it looks like they left the original mill wall in place and faced it with stone. There’s no evidence there of any reinforcement or strengthening to support the earth bank above. When the mill was there it was self supporting but this looks like this has been waiting to happen since then. It needs stabilising fast or they could lose the building |
