What the hell is going on with Silsden? I walk through town on a Friday/Saturday night and get asked for a fight by 15-17 year olds. Last Friday on my way home i counted 4 incidents where some youths actually came up to me asking if i would like to fight them. Last week one of my friends was jumped in the middle of Silsden by 3-4 kids and had to be taken to A&E. Its getting out of hand and something needs to be done.

"Shabba" I trust that you reported ALL these incidents to the police, along with a description of the youths?

We reported the incident about my friend when he had to go to A&E but that just caused more problems because we "Grassed" the two people who did it up.

There are some advantages to being 16 stone at 60 then. No one ever asks me for a fight.

Alan, no the Business Watch has not folded,a unofficial meeting was held with x members of the carnaval committee with the idea of forming one group, unfortunatly no one invited any business Watch in town, the vast majority of business owners in town are opposed to one group, there fore a new comittee made up of the founder members will continue the Business Watch in the new year and continue to run not only the watch but the Xmas Extravaganza,we have been informed that the new caraval committee intend to try and take over, this of course cannot happen unless the Business Watch closes, any person collecting money for any purpose other than Business watch on Wednesday night could face prosecution.

"johns" I'm even more confused than ever now!

Hope everyone is going to support the Extravaganza tonight though! It's a fantastic example of what a cracking town Silsden is and how good Silsdeners are!

And Silsdeners means us offcumdens too!!

Well said again Alan but dont be confused Business Watch WILL CONTINUE! we intend to be much more pro active in the coming year and once the new committee has settled in we intend to have regular OFFICIAL news letters and press coverage.
A meeting is to be schedueled in January (date to be announced,)but as I said Business Watch is alive and kicking and wont be allowed to fold,
Dont forget it was the business watch who re launched the Xmas Extravaganza many of that group where made up of "off cumbdens"

It is amazing how this topic started as one complaining about “THE” youth of Silsden and ended up as one about Business watch, two completely different subjects.
Firstly there isn’t and never has been a problem with “THE” youths of Silsden, what there is; is a problem with a minority of the youths around Silsden, some of the trouble makers don’t even come from the town.
If you know who the ones causing the trouble are then do as Alan says and tell the police, they can’t stop the problem if they can’t identify who is causing it, stand up and be counted.
Secondly I hope the business watch do continue to thrive, unfortunately it wont if it is left the one or two individuals to do all the work.

I agree "grandad".

But I would also stick my head above the parapet and say that in general the youths in Silsden are some of the best I've ever come across.

They can certainly teach some of the whinging old farts a thing or two!

And that comes from an old fart myself!

I agree! there are NO NO-GO areas around Silsden.
I walk regularly all over Silsden, Yes even on a Friday and Saturday nights; when there are sometimes up to thirty youths hanging about the town, they are sometimes a bit vocal but I have never been intimidated by any of them.

The park can be a bit scary at night. But that would be the same anywhere.

Anna
You don't have to be scared of going anywhere in Silsden.
If the idea of being alone in any of the places mentioned, then don't go there alone, take some one with you.
The park is a wonderful place on a moonlit night, you don't even need a torch.
