Topic : TRAIN CONCESSION GOVERNMENT INTERFERENCE |

It is no longer possible to use most rail travel concessions between 4 pm and 6:30 pm Mon. to Fri. I assumed that this was at the instigation of the railway companies. Evidently not. It was a directive from central government. Is this the thin end of the wedge for other travel concessions. |

As I understand it you have to be on a train that is timetables before 16:01. I found out that the concession applies to pre 9:30 tickets the expensive way. Being a bit early for the 9:43 Bradford train I paid the higher price as I used the machine before 9:30 Thought there had been a hefty fare rise, until the penny dropped. Not a fortune so put it down to experience. Nice to know it also applies between 4 and 6 30. Still a government rather than local cut. All those missing dodged taxes need to be made up some way. |

Was told that if I returned after 4pm the cost would be 」13 return. I therefore had to make an economical decision and return prior to 4pm (cost 」6.50 - which is more than enough to pay!). No point wasting hard-earned to give to our local train company! |

If you travel both ways in peak time the top fare is 」9 the cheapest off peak is 」6-60.I think its because you look like a gentleman who would only travel 1st class they charged you a bit extra |

I use the service between lancaster and Blackpool regularly, the 4pm to 6 ish, ban on off peak did not apply last time I used it. So it can't be nationwide. |

It is West Yorkshire only and is about London controlling transport subsidies up north. |

Sorry the facts don't support this anti North argument. Concessions have FREE post 0930 rail travel in Greater Manchester & Merseyside. It's a West Yorkshire Metro issue - who I think are under Labour control? Blame them! |

From Monday 8 September (2014) off-peak tickets can no longer be used between 16:01 to 18:29 on weekdays. A new agreement between Northern Rail and the Department for Transport means that from Monday 8 September, a range of off-peak tickets can no longer be used on weekday evening peak times. This applies to all train services in West Yorkshire, and associated routes, between 16:01 and 18:29. Northern Rail were asked by the Government to look at their funding streams and they choose to increase peak fares calling not a price rise but a price change. Does not fool anyone. |

Yorkshire trampled on by Tory southerners. Nothing new then. |

That will be the case whichever party is in power. The labour lot may wear red ties, but they've blue linings to their jackets. They only know the North exists when they want votes or soldiers. |
