This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

no point trying to clean the beck well after winter as lots or tree branches are washed down this time of year

I'm just bringing this back into focus as the state of the beck and also the park is quite frankly atrocious currently and unless 'we' do something about it I guess it will just get worse and worse.

I am looking to get some people together to spend a day or an afternoon in the next few weeks to go up the beck collecting the rubbish and hopefully arranging with the council to dispose of it properly whether its recycling bottles etc and binning the excess or whatever.

If anyone has any thoughts on this can you let me know on this thread as any advice will be greatly received.

Many Thanks

I think the Group has disbanded - or gone into hibernation.
Great idea to re-start one and here's another volunteer.

I am afraid it is the same for me. I can only do weekends as I do weekday 7am-3pm shifts, which at this time of year pretty much takes of action for any daylight hours during the week.

Ok, what do we need to get this going? I would have thought some litter picker gadget things, anyone know where we might be able to borrow a dozen? Is this time of year a good time to clear the beck? I would have thought so to make as cleaner passageway as possible before the winter. Bin bags shouldn't be a problem but what about disposal? Which part of the beck do you think needs focusing on first? I'm more than happy to organise this but need a bit of help with the above. I'm away next week but send posts with thoughts and stuff and I'll pick up when I'm back

please listen the silsden youth council are going to clean up the beck by the bridge in the park they have been supplied with litter grabbers, bags and gloves by bradford met so once this area is cleaned up if you want to clear an other area up of the beck farther down stream the youth council will still have all the cleaning equipment if you need it and some of them may want to help out as well, hope this helps.

Hi clerk to the Youth council here, the youth council have all the litter pickers and bin bags - supplied by BMDC as we have it on our agenda we were going to tidy the back area particularly by the bottom entrance of the park (by the skate park)

We are hoping to do next week on the saturday, before remembrance sunday, if you wish to join us this would be no problem

Hi deputy

Many thanks for posting - its great thaat someone is finally going to do something.

What time are you intending to start? Might be worthwhile doing this together as it can get the job done quicker obviously.

Just to check - is it ok for adults to help out with the youth council - just want to make sure we dont need CRB checks or the like!

Thanks again!

Nice one greybags. I think I can get some of those litter picker things. We have 12 now, a few more would be nice. Do you think we should start at Habbisat and work our way up stream to the COOP? There will be plenty to do around the skate park. Perhaps a hot drink and a mince pie near the post office?

I hope to have the litter picking things tonight, thanks deputy.I will confirm place to meet, but I guess by the seats near the post office. Bring some bags if you have some. Not sure what we will do with the rubbish yet? Guess skippy will have the cans and the glass we can put in the bottle bank. If some want to stay dry. We shall need some people to take the bags from those in the beck.
Anyone else with suggestions?
