My wrought iron garden gate is very badly rusted and pitted and I'd like to clean it up and re-paint it. Can anyone advise methods or businesses that could clean it up for me? I don't really fancy spending hours with my blowtorch and wire brush doing this, I was thinking more along the lines of someone shot blasting it or "dipping" it (does that work for iron stuff?)

Thanks.

Get it shot blasted and powder coated.
You will never need to touch it again once done.

There are plenty of local companies in Keighley or Skipton that will do it for you.

The last job I had done was actually in Ilkley at a firm called "Blast Coat" 01943 607007

He did a pair of alloy motorbike wheels for me and made a really good job of them. I think they cost about £40 for the pair.
However I shot blasted those myself at work, so they would have cost a bit more if had blasted them at the powder coaters.
