IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. If that sketch is what it is going to be like? Then it is not DDA compliant. |
|
| midway |
The floor plan, it doesn't look to be compliant does it. |
|
| Dodzi |
But then its a small building an I think would be exempt. The law states reasonable changes. The red Lion has been refurb'd as isn't compliant (no loos). The Kings Arms has loos but they are kept lock - so you have to ask for the key. I'm guessing this means they aren't compliant either. Depends on how far your going to carry out the witch hunt and what benefits disabled citizens are going to get out of it. |
|
| Peter |
Just because you see a toilet on a plan doesn't mean there is public access. This one looks like it's for staff use only. |
|
| Dodzi |
Looks like a ramp to access the shop as well. |
|
| Pennypeck |
Excuse the pun, but surely it's going to be a convenience store! |

Depends on how far your going to carry out the witch hunt and what benefits disabled citizens are going to get out of it. There are around 9,000 disabled toilets which for one reason or another are kept locked.Usually someone will have a key on site or many disabled people carry the special key needed to unlock the WC doors. |

I can remember the old toilets on this site where you had to go down some steps.I wonder if it was filled on or built over? |
|
| Dodzi |
this post has been edited 1 time(s) Gazzer - if like me you need to use disabled toilets you often don't have time to hunt round for the key holder. And before you say it yes I do have the universal access key. Toilets which are locked without this key - which the ones in the king are - are still an issue. Why should I have to ask to use the bathroom just because I'm disabled. IF this is used however there are no issues:- https://www.commercialwashroomsltd.co.uk/faqs/disabled-toilets/what-is-the-radar-toilet-lock-scheme |

-------doggy studies the form book. ---------- |
|
| ginjo |
how come nobody knows what sort of shop it is, surely this will have come up when getting planning permission |
|
| midway |
The planning application is for A1 use, that covers sales, could be hair dresser, but not hot food or takeaway. |
|
| midway |
Could be of interest to you. 16/06246/FUL | Change of use of former public conven ience to Use Class A1 (Retail) and alterations to form shop front | Former Public Convenience Bridge Road Silsden West Yorkshire No objection in principal but objection at the moment as there is no indication of catering for bins/trade waste and question the access to the premises as this site is land locked and STC are aware there is no legal right of access in place. |
