This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Please will people stop denigrating our local politicians, if you think you can do better then put up or shut up.
They all do a very large amount of work for this Town most of which goes unrecorded, because they do not blow their own trumpets.

Do they? All of them? Hmmm, I know some of them do for sure, but some you only see around election time or when they think they can grab a headline.

I know we sometime tar them all with the same brush when we shouldn't, but I think you are painting with a very broad brush when you say they all work hard for the communities they represent.

But I like your idea that they do go things so why don't we make this a thread to say what things we know they've done for the town?

I think I'm right in saying Chris was largely responsible for the bandstand to get us off to a start if anyone wants to play?

In High Wycome they have a tradition called weighing the Mayor the Mayor of High Wycome is weighed upon taking up office and again a year later when the next incumbent takes on the annual roll, The Mayor will be seated on special brass scales - if weight loss has occured during their term of office the crowd will cheer as it's assumed they have been working hard but if weight has been gained expect good - humoured booing the custom dates back to at least the nineteenth century, I think it would be very interesting to start this as a tradition in Silsden then we can all make our judgments fair and sqare let's get the ball rolling (Life is good)
