IMPORTANT PLEASE READ

This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

If you are of a delicate disposition do not go to this link:
www.chavtowns.co.uk/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1936
If it was not for the obvious references I would never have recognized the place.

Perhaps you'd enlighten me "wahiba" but I always thought that "recognised" was spelt with an S in English?
Perhaps you may be using an American spellcheck?
You'll have to excuse my ignorance.

Yes, one has to be careful when using spellcheck it isn't always appropriate as the previous post on this forum has obviously found to his/her cost. One should also beware of color, center etc etc.

I wondered if anyone would pick it up. I had noticed. As I understand it though the s and z thing is not an issue, unlike color and colour. It through the latter up as an error, so I amended it.

I heard or read recently how these differences came about. It was Webster, of US Websters dictionary fame, who thought it was about time to simplify some silly English spellings. I believe quite a number of his suggestions were not accepted. Pity, I think he was on the right lines.

Sorry "wahiba" shouldn't that be 'contexts'?

I'd get a new spellcheck and grammar check if I were you!
