IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Topic : Looking for Information on cottage (1955) |

Posted on behalf of Shirley Krahn (Anderson) from Canada: I'm going to be in Silsden July 15, 16th and I'm trying to find the cottage my family lived in when I was born in 1955, shortly before we moved to Canada. I'm only interested in taking a photo, (if it is still there) for my Mother who is not able to make the trip. She said the cottage was called Howden House Manor/Cottage? and it was just outside of Silsden. She only remembers the landlords names were Bernard and Betty. Is there anyone who might be able to assist me. ![]() Shirley Krahn (Anderson) from Canada |

I would be more than willing to help as I believe I lived there myself. I can either meet and show you where it is or give directions thro here - which ever you wish. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) This could be it www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-418929-howden-house-cottage-silsden/osmap If you are familiar with Google Streetview and could get use of a computer you will be able to view the cottage and maybe show it to your mum online to confirm this is the house. |

Thank you so much, I would love to get directions. I'm staying in York for two nights and will probably be driving to Silsden on the 15th or 16th. |

Bernard and Betty Emmott ran the farm here for many years. They were both very active in the community and Bernard was a parish councillor. Their married daughter still lives in the Silsden area. |

I'm looking forward to seeing the place when I'm there next week. |
