This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Blonde Labrador found roaming around Windgate area of Silsden last Thursday. The dog has no collar and is microchipped but it is complicated re ownership. Can anyone shed any light on who it belongs to. Please post on here then I can call you.
Regards

I heard a whisper that the chip was foreign, possibly French.

What is the point of having chips, if the chip cannot be read internationally?

For a pet of ANY description to be taken abroad, it is my understanding that it has to be chipped and the holders carry a passport for the animal to avoid quarrantine regulations.

Similar to a child, it is distressing to say the least, when you lose one, but to lose one in a foreign country, when retrieval is less likely, make it even worse!

Is it just strange chance that this possibly "foreign" dog was found wandering on the same evening as two "foreign nationals" (see Kings Arms thread) were injured in an RTA Silsden?

Don't know about you but I confess to having looked the "wrong way" when crossing the road more than once when newly landed in a different country. And I can't say "My dog is also lost" in Spanish or anything. Just a thought.

Poor dog and poor people. Here's hoping for a happy outcome for them all. Together or separately.

Thanks roosterman for the realism check. I've obviously been watching too many "sad lost dog wins through" films! Careless surfing, noting the 2 threads started on the same day and making fantasy assumptions. Must be more careful in future! Can't help hoping the dog will win through though!

Have you tried adding this dog to a website such as www.doglost.co.uk or www.nationalpetregister.org or indeed see if there is a dog on these sites which is registered as missing which fits the date are area that you found the dog

This lovely labrador is now in the care of the RSPCA - Craven and Upper Wharfedale division. He will soon be looking for a new home. The RSPCA local branch has their own facebook page and details will soon be posted on there.
