IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Re Neighbourhood Plan You may be wondering what the Steeton-with-Eastburn & Silsden neighbourhood plan is, and why Bradford Council's Local Plan Group are currently consulting on the subject? ....... Steeton and Silsden have recently completed town surveys which allows this area to make a neighbourhood plan. The advantage of having a neighbourhood plan is we can say what the people of the area would like for the future - housing and amenities etc and not have a plan imposed on us by Bradford. This is what the Town Survey in 2012 was all about. Statement explaining why this area is considered appropriate to be designated as a neighbourhood area www.bradford.gov.uk/NR/rdonlyres/884D2A05-DEBC-430F-8764-0031ACE83932/0/SteetonandSilsdenNAA.pdf Having a neighbourhood plan will be a good for the future of this area. Peter THE STATEMENT FROM BRADFORD Notification of Public Consultations – Neighbourhood Area Applications I am writing to notify you that Bradford Council's Local Plan Group are currently consulting on three separate Neighbourhood Area Applications from the following Parish & Town Councils: Menston Steeton-with-Eastburn & Silsden Wilsden These applications are formal requests from each Parish & Town Council to Bradford Council to become recognised as a Neighbourhood Area under Part 2, Section 5 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012. These Neighbourhood Area Applications establish the intentions of each Parish and Town Council to produce a Neighbourhood Development Plan for their area. Aim of the consultationS Each consultation seeks your views and comments on the principle of the Council approving a Neighbourhood Area at Menston, Steeton-with-Eastburn & Silsden and Wilsden, in particular: · Do you agree or disagree with the proposal for a Neighbourhood Area? · Do you think the area identified is suitable for the production of a Neighbourhood Development Plan? · Is the proposed boundary appropriate? Or should be changed in any way? Following this consultation each application will be presented to the relevant Area Committee for comment, prior to a final decision of the Council’s Executive Committee. If the applications are approved, three new Neighbourhood Areas will be formed to allow the respective Parish Councils to begin work on the preparation of a Neighbourhood Development Plan for their area. Consultation Period The consultation will last for 8 weeks, starting on Monday 14th July until 4pm on Monday 8th September 2014. Where can I view the consultation documents? The consultation documents are available to download online from: www.bradford.gov.uk/bmdc/Consultations/current_consultations.htm Reference copies can be viewed at: · Menston Library, Main Street, Menston, Ilkley, LS29 6LG · Silsden Library, Silsden Town Hall, Kirkgate, Silsden, Keighley, BD20 0AJ · Wilsden Library*, Village Hall, Towngate, Wilsden, BD15 0HS (* Tuesdays only) How to make comments The Council welcomes your views and comments. There is a separate comment form for each neighbourhood area application, please use the relevant form to register your views. The comment form can be found alongside the consultation document and then send it to us by: Email: ldf.consultation@bradford.gov.uk Post: Local Plans Group 2nd Floor (South) Jacobs Well Nelson Street Bradford BD1 5RW Comments should be received by the Council at either of the above addresses and no later than 4pm on Monday 8th September 2014.
