IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Topic : councillors to boycott town council meetings |

I thought this deserved it's own thread rather than tacked on the end of a subject that's long since ended. www.cravenherald.co.uk/news/9761890.District_councillors_to_boycott_Silsden_Town_Council_meetings/?ref=rss&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter How on earth does Mallinson intend to be involved and represent the people of Silsden if he won't attend town council meetings? I think this is just ludicrous. |

jonno andrew mallinson NEVER attends silsden council meetings he takes his allowences for doing???? in all the time he has supposedly represented silsden i would bet that i could count on 1 hand the times he has attended, the last time he came to a meeting was the neighbourhood forum when he dragged andrew rowley to be introduced to try gain political support.at that meeting he said that he would get that big stone that was in the middle of the pavement down kly rd,not a chance guess who did it ? yep me and adrian naylor and steve richardson after a week all talk and no action so what a good excuse to not have to do any work for which he takes approx 300 quid a week![]() |

This is something to keep in your memory banks when these two come grovelling for your vote next election time! |

Sad to see another thread starting about all this, we got fed up with it all at election time, and hardly anybody bothered to vote anyway. I wouldn't worry about the next election, because even less voters will bother, unless politics can raise itself to another level above petty squabbling about things which don't really concern ordinary people. We need a new system of representing and helping people in the community, and improving their lives. That would be a more interesting discussion than raking over old stuff again |

I agree with Dexter. Our Town Council and Ward Councillors should spend more time finding out what local people want and then trying to do something about it instead of scrapping like children in a playground. |

Absolutely right, Dexter. But its good to remember that there are lots of terrific people out there, quietly doing good things for community life in Silsden, who are neither squabbling or back-slapping. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) greenlanes....I do agree with you 100%, it's the ones who shout and argue that I'm on about. The silent effective majority just get on with their lives, support local businesses, pay their council tax, and help people when they can....it's the party politics that have reached their sell-by date, which is why nobody bothers to vote anymore. Silsden is a great place , thanks to those community minded people you mention. |
