Sooooo you get loads of money from the lottery and then sell what you build as a bungalow. I thought the lottery was supposed to fund charities etc......Will the sports club go the same way? Is this just a way for normal people being taxed by stealth to fund someones home????

an application to turn the single-storey building into a bungalow has now been submitted to Bradford Council.
This application was considered at the STC meeting on Thursday and unanimously rejected on the grounds this would be a change of use to residential of green belt land.

The new club house and the golf course expansion was built with lottery money as the news article states.

Just a thought, Whe does it appear that the STC and some members of this forum, that sporting facilities and the people who use them are so abhorrent.

All the clubs in Silsden strive for funding and in return offer individual pastimes, hobbies or sport for the people of Silsden and without whose attendance would cease to exist.

The Golf Club gave a huge amount of people, both players and the ones who ever attended a function there, a great deal of pleasure, and it is the economic climate over the last few years which attributed to there demise.

As for the Sports Club Dodzi, rest assured a lot of people put in a lot of effort to maintain the facility for the whole community, but like all businesses, “Use It or Lose It”

The Golf Club got that lottery money years ago, 2001 according to the article Peter linked to. I don't think there was any intention to use it to build a sporting facility and then chage it to residential for a profit. It's just the way things have turned out with it not generating the additional income everyone hoped it would and the clubs finances being in a poor state.

It's not alone in struggling. Fairview in Riddlesden is also either closed, on getting by on life-support from members volunteering to run everything.

Whether it should now be allowed to change to residential in a green belt area I'm not sure. My concern would be whether it would set a precedent and open up the possibility of more houses being built in that area.

There was one dwelling built originally which the new plans say will be replaced with this new plan. I stand to be corrected but it seems to be lose one dwelling gain one dwelling.

In that case I would have less of a concern but still think it would be a good idea to get it legally checked out to ensure no precedent was being created.
