Balti Spice opened sometime last year and the currys were fantastic. For the last couple of months they have gone down hill, they are too salty and the chicken is very dry. Has anyone else found this? Crazy Chef is pants and Lazees is far too expensive - and a bit pants!
Maybe the new takeaway will be better - for the first few months! |

I cannot understand the obsession with take aways, there is nothing in their favour, expensive, unhealthy, main contributors to litter, obeseity, often places where fights start etc etc. It is another symptom of our lazy society.I never get a takeaway, would not have one given, much nicer to make it yourself, it does not take long and is better for you |

Off thread, but have to agree with the last post. Lastweek, I had to go into Bingley, what a shock. There are very few decent shops left, now it's mainly takeaways, charity shops, hairdressers and beauticians. Told this to my nextdoor neighbour who is in her 80s, Silsden born and bred. The reply to my story was, " a lot like Silsden then". On hearing of yet another Cafe (takeaway ) it's rather like another nail in the coffin. I do wish ALL business to be healthy in the present climate, but as said in another post, what is the present societies obsession with fast junk food. Pasty in a paper bag syndrome!!!! |

I have to say I agree that Silsden now has too many takeaways and not enough shops.
In reply to the original post I have to say I think Balti Spice is by far the best curry in Silsden and I am sure if you spoke to them regarding the salt in your dish they would rectify this and as for the chicken I have never had a bad experience |

I have asked them to not make it as salty but it didn't seem to make any difference to be honest. Shame because they were really nice. With regard to the health issues associated with takeaways, we have a home made healthy meal every day except Friday as myself and my girlfriend treat ourselves after working all week. The kids will still have a cooked homemade meal on Friday as we are both well aware of the health implications of junk food. We are fortunate that they both enjoy fruit and veg. Thanks to persistence and the lack of sweets, they eat pretty much what is put in front of them. Off topic, apologies! Anyway, Balti Spice, we do find too salty. |

I do also agree that there are FAR too many takeaways in Silsden. Why are they getting permission? I wouldn't of thought that having that much competition in such a small town was profitable??? |

no wonder shops are closing with you lot the war finished over 60 years ago you are now allowed to go out for meals, you can have a take away if you want I bet you will tell us next how you make your own clothes at home bet most of you still knit jumpers ha ha ha long live curry shops. To be honest I have never dreamed of meat and 2 veg but take away curries you just start to want one then you must have one your mouth starts to water as you wait for what is the food of the gods. |

Can't stand all this foreign food, I prefer good wholesome English food. The stuff that doesn't upset my guts, made fresh by a well-trained English chef, my dear wife. |

I agree about there being too many takeaways.
And now there's another one opening soon where the offy used to be opposite the war memorial.
Let's hope they run it well, serve outstanding grub and that the nearby respectable area doesn't get desecrated with junk.
Shame the building didn't become an affordable cafe. |
