This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Quote of £23m for the "park" in central Bradford.
Guess what its gone up £7m on top of that this week.I bet the £40m windfall from the airport sale ends up paying for this white elephant.

I have been voting for getting on 30 years and it wont matter who is in charge Silsden wont get anything because we are on the edge of Bradford. The Lib Dem/Tory partnership does nothing and if god forbid Labour regain control we all know how they love centralisation.
Its time we had a Silsden ward on the council instead of Craven then someone could stand as a Silsden candidate as opposed to party politics.

I wonder what plans "alan" has in store to topple the tories this year. It seems that the candidates these days just settle for pushing a leaflet through the door and hope for the best.A little proactive campaigning wouldnt go amiss. Time to oust the tories who have done nothing for silsden.

Your right Alan not many live in Silsden but your reply is an interesting way of telling the people of Addingham not to vote for you because you dont live in Addingham.
Ian Greenwood(Labour leader) lost his seat because of his flawed school policies so was give a safe Labour seat to get back in through the backdoor. Not in the spirit of the election process. So no chance of a labour vote from me.
Libs/Tories have not impressed since running the council.Greens=no chance.
In the absence of a Silsden Independence party its UKIP for me.

Interesting reply "gazzer" when the question was asked in relation to Silsden happy :) You should be a politician!

Perhaps I should widen it and say how many actually live in Craven?

I'd be interested, in the cause of fairness, to see all the candidates replies on here, in particular UKIP happy :)

Anyway, I don't want to be drawn in to debates on here, it's unfair to others. If anyone is really interested Peter has my e-mail address and I'm sure will forward anything to me.

The way I see it is like this, For years now the Craven Ward has had three Tory Councillors, therefore when Bradford is controlled by the Tories they say “we don’t have to give anything for craven it is a safe seat”. But when the Labour Party is in power in Bradford they say “We won’t give anything to Craven they are all Tories over there”.
What we need in Craven is for the three ward Councillors to be one of each, Labour, Tory, and Liberal, then whoever is in power at Bradford will look at us and say, “We had better look after them, none of our jobs on the gravy train are safe.
