IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Topic : silsden park what a mess |
|
| rotter |
what a fantastic time i had today.... i took my son down to silsden park to spend a bit of time playing.. after about 45 mins we both decided to go down to the skate park just at bottom of the park .. when down there i was pretty upset with what i saw and found. i found 2 micro scooters all smashed up ( not the cheap 1's i might add )also lots of writting all over the ramps and condoms and beer cans .... do we need to ask what is going on down there and also should they be something done about it.... |

what do you suggest we do ????????????????????? |

Ask the Park Rangers and PCSO's why they aren't sorting it! If a Park Ranger sees this mess doesn't he get someone to clear it up? |

Interesting site - www.bradforddistrictparks.org/rangers/index.htm Apparently the rangers tour the area and ensure that parks are kept clean - as I thought - someone isn't doing their job! To report it E-mail the District Councillors, Messers Naylor, Mallinson, and Kelly....... details on this site. |

quoteAsk the Park Rangers and PCSO's why they aren't sorting it! If a Park Ranger sees this mess doesn't he get someone to clear it up? Alan, many of your answers suggest we should sort out problems ourselves which begs the question what are our Town Councillors doing about problems which are reported on this site? The reason many incidents are reported here is to make our town councillors aware of the problem and hopefully get some more heavyweight support to sort things out. I know STC have no real power but at least they should try! |

i havent got a clue what to suggest but you wanna try and explain condoms used and unused to a 8 year old and why are they down here..... i think its disgracefull and will not be taking any of my family down there till it is sorted i also have a 1 and half year old girl and i would of been devastated if she had picked any of that stuff up . |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) Incorrect Fred, most of my answers will point people in the right direction of who effectively make complaints too. If you'd prefer me not to answer, I am quite happy not to do so in future! Although, personally, I do regularly pass issues on to the relevant people where I consider I can be of help! In this instance, it's just as easy to e-mail the Ranger Service with copies to District Councillors (WHO ARE PAID AND GET EXPENSES!) Although the issue has already been raised by the TC with the Ranger Service in the past and I am sure it will be again in the future. If you want to communicate with STC the route is via the monthly meetings and the public adjournments or the clerk. Those who have bothered in the past have always found that the TC will do all it can to help. Perhaps you'd like to come and pass on your views Fred? |

this could poss be an item to bring up at the police and community together meeting on june 11th look at the events forum for further details |
|
| alan |
Excellent idea doggie......... I'm sure it will also be brought up at STC meeting as well. But for councillors to continue proactively it would be more useful to have written complaints from known residents rather than the anonymous comments made on here! |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) Peter - could you please change my contact details on the sheet from my telephone number to e-mail - alan@silsden.net. There are lots of times I am driving or out of range and cannot answer a mobile effectively. I would also request that anyone raising an issue leaves their own details including contact details. |

look the real answer here is bring back park keepers (like we used to have in Silsden park)all this I will bring this up here there and every where is rubbish that whats wrong with this country all we do is set up more and more committees and quangos, park rangers and PCSO'S waste of time and money? get police men back on the beat let them get to know the local youths and get some respect back, as for the condoms broken scooters and empty beers cans I can explain to my kids why that happens what I really hate is grown up adults who think the park is a place to let your dog have a crap |
|
| alan |
For once I agree bogtoss..............BUT the reality of life is that Bradford won't pay for a park keeper. We have to make use of the resources we have, like it or not. But if rotter wants to e-mail me details of the incidents, with their own details it will be brought up at a TC meeting. |

the issue is not dogs crapping in the park they cant use the toilet they have to pee and crap somewere the issue is responsible owners clearing up after them as i do with daisy muppet its really very easy buy a roll of cheap poop bags rip one off hand inside grab the poop pull bag off hand tie place in bin takes all of 10 seconds makes me wonder if the owners who dont clean up after there mutts every get crap on there shoes or whether they like shitty shoes |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) As for having police back on the streets i very much doubt this will ever happen again...you now have pcso,s..and as for dog shite i very much agree with you it should all be picked up by the owners.... |

I use the park 3 times daily and tho its true dog mess is a problem,(I tell owners who leave mess to pick it up)the broken bottles, condoms, cans food boxes are the real problem just now.Unfortunatly this will carry on throughout the summer while the weather is good, particulary in the school holidays. On thursday morning yhere was a smashed up childs electric car. Some poorr kid will have got up to find his best toy gone but ay least some older kids had they fun!!By the way as for complaining, when the park cleaners come to do the cleaning they often leave lots of rubbish behind,I ring and complain and some-one comes along and takes a bit more away but if its too far from a bin or footpath it stays! These people have no pride in what they do,thats the problem,if it was done right in first place we wouldnt need to complain. And if the stupid idiots had pride in where they lived maybe they would treat thier enviroment a lot better. |

Yesterday morning there were several plastic bags with empty bottles and rubbish left by the table and benches at the top of the park.I and my wife would like to say THANK YOU to the young people who had a good time the night before and left the place tidy.As we live near by we are happy to put the emptys in our bin insted of them being broken and throw all over the place. |
|
| gazzer |
I would suggest a ban on drinking in public anywhere in Silsden for all age groups |
|
| bogtoss |
as Victor say's the young people took the time to tidy up after they had there little park pary but then Gazzer say's ban drinking in public places? now they way prices are going up in pubs some of our elder people who like a drink may them selves have to start to party in the park at least then it will start to get used a bit more I have walked through some evenings and only seen one or two people |
