2.08 mins he is skating on a broken bench in the memorial gardens. Benches don't break this way by sitting on them.  Isn't the skate park enough for him? |

They were a few of them there at lunchtime doing it! Its shocking that they have no respect! they also use walls outside Cobbydale Club! What they hell did they want that eyesore building in the park for if they don't use it?? To me they are as bad as the lad who pee'd on the cenotaph! Name and shame him!!! |

Kids playing, kids make movie, kids get moaned at. Nothing new there. If the seat is bent then it is poor design. A kid on a skate board is not going to produce enough force to bend it. As for the war memorial. There is a chance the skaters name could be on it one day. Atheletic type, looked ideal army material. What did they die for? A future for the generations thant followed them. The skater is the future and what do people want, a witch hunt. What's the harm? Kids rebel, and what are they rebelling against - the whinge generation. |

tolpuddle, I think you must be after the wooden spoon award! The video shows the teenager has a complete lack of respect for public property and a disgraceful lack of respect of the war memorial and what it represents - people died so he could live in the freedom he enjoys. Such behavior cannot and should not be condoned. Please watch the video to see how the bench bends under the stress of the skateboard attack, it was not designed for such treatment, the metal bar in the skateboard park was. |

If any of you actually did sports such as skateboarding you would know that a variety is 1.a lot more interesting and 2.a better way to improve. Being confined to a small area doing the same thing all the time (the skate park) is boring and after you have mastered it, useless in improving. The teenager simply rolls off the memorial, no he shouldn't be skating on there but a simple move like that should not cause an uproar. If you don't like us teenagers skating or riding in our surroundings i suggest you provide somewhere more adequate, and don't say it is up to you to get your areas sorted out because we're happy with riding on walls etc  |

Other than the jump onto the bench, i cant see anything else wrong with it, yes he skated off the steps near the monument, but there was no harm meant or done. Was it him who broke the bench? (no-one knows). Is he supposed to carry his skate board from his front door to the skate park? He didnt do any damage to the monument, he simply skated near it. Maybe somebody could simply say to him "please dont skate on the benches" i recon thats the first step before everyone getting all stroppy about his video or actions! You never know, he might say "sorry about that, it wont happen again" |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) Didn't the skate park take ages to sort out designs etc and preparation building it must have looked at possible additions to it? skating on a memorial which isn't just for the wars that have been its for that one still on our tv screens and that more than one person in silsden have been involved in, including myself. Skate parks are there for a reason, why doesn't one of the YOUNG INTELLIGENT people design either a design change or at least try and make it more fun. If you want to stop being a pain in the back side why don't you join up!! instead of making everyone angry!! |

Bring back conscription eh? Send kids to be killed for a pointless war to teach them discipline? For information the INTELLIGENT kids of the Youth Council raised the money and designed the park! It's a very small handful of numpties that spoil it for the VAST majority as usual! |

Alan you seem to have missed the point on what I said, I never said anything about conscription...that went out quite a while ago!! The pointless wars you refer to is your personal opinion and all I will say is it's not always a choice but it is our job to go out there. I just hope the public realise how hard they work out there and carry on supporting us when we come back home. To say rememberrance stuff is just for stuff years ago is ignorance. It's not very much work to either redesign it if it's boring or get extensions to it if its not big enough. Ask the skaters what they want a do something about it, put some steps in or something use a brain cell!! |

It's up to the Youth Council to do what they want, they do the work I get totally sick and tired of ALL the decent kids in Silsden getting tarred because of one or two idiots. By the way, I hear that the one on YouTube has had a visit! |

How about instead of coming on a public website to moan about what young people do and how they act, why doesn't anyone come to a meeting of the youth council to have their say. Everyone is welcome and all views are taken into account. Maybe if people took this route then we can work towards solving the issue instead of letting it ride. How can the youth council know there is a problem if no one tells us!!!! as for any young people who agree the park is now boring, you can also come tell us your ideas or maybe even join as a member. NOBODY IS EVER EXCLUDED AND ALL VIEWS ARE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT!!!! The next meeting is TUESDAY 5TH JANUARY @ 6:30pm in the council chambers in the town hall. Please feel free to join us!!! |

A long time ago when I were a lad! I once made the mistake of telling my mother I was bored. I spent the next two hours cleaning the oven, (You didn’t say no to my mother.) I was never bored again; I would often take my dog and just go for a walk up onto Rombalds moor. You young un’s today don’t know how lucky you are, with all of your technology around to entertain you, we didn’t have a tele until I was eleven. |
