It's quick money for them... easy money. Everyone drives a little too fast at times, the police know that and make ALOT of money from people rushing to work, trying to get home, late to pick the kids up from school...many reasons. And there isn't alot of paperwork to do. Think about it... Stick to the speed limits and make them work for their wages. Go out and get the people that need catching, not the motorist that are trying to get to work to support his/her family...Slow down, stop dashing here and there and sooner or later you will not see this so often, and save your HARD earned cash- |

Are the 50mph signs on the Bingley bypass advisory only? I would have thought this an ideal road for speed cameras. Over the last few days I have had to use that road several times, no one but me seemed to be taking any notice, I did wonder if they had been left over from another job and the council had nowhere to store them. |

Having paid my £60 for 36 mph in a 30 mph area, I have taken a bit more interest in how fast I go. Not that I was ever a speed merchant, I only got caught because I was nattering to SWMBO and missed the sign.
Anyhow I have noted the following:
Following the speed limits does not seem to increase journey times.
When one is overtaken more than likely the person overtaking turns off at the next junction. So as they slow down so do you catching them up!
When you overtake someone, legally, then when you get to a slower road they catch you up.
It is green to go slower.
It is more relaxing going slower. This one notices more on a motorcycle. There I am riding along enjoying the scenery, a good space in front and past they come the flat out leather parrots. Always a few mile down the road they are invariably parked up having a rest, knackered from their speeding efforts. Seams to me the tortoise and the hare story is as valid today as it ever was.
Better late and alive than dead on time. |

Remember Iraqi Information Minister Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf or Comical Ali as he was known.I think he know works for West Yorkshire Casualty Reduction Partnership. They have just sent me a newsletter which states 82% of the public support the use of speed scameras and 78% think they are to slow people down rather than raise money.I would love to know how they "loaded" the questions. |

nope i think when it was opened it was 70mph but reduced to 50 a few days later as there was a bunch of crashes straight away as its quite twisty/intersections and a little blind in that area) but yup likes like just you and me do 50mph through there |

Having had to cough up £60 becasue of a speed camera it makes one think.
Well, I was in the wrong, I know the law of the land, I just missed the sign, serves me right.
Now I am one of those you follow at 30 through 30 mph area. I am also one of those who puts his foot down at the end of limit and watch the tail sitter disappear behind me as they were obviously following me rather than the road, signs etc. OK they might catch up and over take. I would rather have idiots in front of me than behind.
If you do not like the laws of the land become a politician and get everyone who agrees behind you and change them. That does not happen, which suggest the majority are happy with the speed limits. That is democracy.
Really the petrol head days of the car are coming to an end. With average speeds in towns down into single figures, what is the point. With so many cars on the roads slowing down the general flow one might as well cruise slower, stay safe, stay legal and get there alive, and usually only minutes slower, if that, than if you put your foot down.
If you want excitement, please, not on the roads i travel on. |
