This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

How come the developers do what they want?? What are the blue buildings that show an artist impression as being green? Surely green would blend in better?

Also the parking near the junction with Hainsworth Road is a joke through the day -

Can't agree with you more, living on Hainsworth Road myself, my husband and I think the new building are such an eyesore, we can't believe they were ever approved. I feel for the house at the top of Hainsworth Road, not much of a view out of their window anymore.

As for the parking at the bottom of Belton Road, it infuriates me, especially as the culprits seem to be the parents of children playing at Silsden Football club. Sunday's are particularly bad, I'm surprised there's not been an accident between to cars coming from opposite directions. It'll only be a matter of time, just hope it's not us!

It's the old dilemma about jobs or houses, the land was always designated for industrial use I assume. Trees will mask the industrial buildings from the houses, and we have to have jobs for the economy's sake. It seems Silsden people don't want new houses or new jobs in the town. As for whether the buildings are part-green or part-blue, they are being built to satisfy a need (all rented/sold bar one), and they look OK to me. Let's wait till they are finished and compare them to the wasteland that was there before.

We moved here about 15 years ago and deliberately bought a house without a panoramic view. Those tend to get built on, and that has happened here.

I agree it is the old story, we want houses, we want work but not next to me.

Well, what goes around comes around. Silsden was built of houses next to the work places, the mills. As travelling gets expensive people will start living near their place of work again.

having once lived on the site I worked on i can confirm that commuting is not the best way to live.

My point Carloil is not whether or not Silsden needs these buildings - in fact i dont have an issue with them whatsoever -its the same old point that planners appear to let the developer do what he wants. The other buildings are green so where did the blue come from?? or is air force blue the new green?????

I know you are right "the stig", I suppose I opened out the discussion too much. At the end of the day there must be some surveyor who signs off the buildings on behalf of the council, and they may change! I still don't mind the colour, everything can't be green all the time.

What I find annoying is, the builders erected the new buildings to the right of the even newer buildings yet they weren't all leased out to businesses so what exactly was the need to erect more? Surely they should have leased the earlier phase first before proceeding to build another block to identify whether there was actually a need for the new ones?
