I was driving from Keighley Road and over the canal bridge and got the Clog Bridge junction to be confronted by 2 men checking the sewer outside of Arabesque in the middle of the road. No lighting, just a couple of cones and they were wearing orange jackets.
It made me wonder how urgnetly this work really needed doing in the pitch black as I didn't spot them very easily and I wasn't driving very fast, the speed some folks drive about they were a sitting target. They had also narrowed downt the lanes considerably meaning a large van or HGV would have struggled to get past. It all seemed very dangerous considering the light conditions. |

Did you notice how close To the zebra crossing the manhole was; about 2 yards. Perhaps you were actually going faster than you thought. Personally I am sick of drivers not adhering to the local speed limit and even ignoring the zebra crossings. Too many people have already had accidents as a result of reckless drivers on these crossings |

I had to wait for three cars to not stop when waiting to cross with the dog. It is funny how all of them avoided eye contact and the third sped up. |

As I live on Keighley Road I am far too aware of people driving too fast. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I do not drive fast anywhere. And perhaps the fact that I wasn't sure of their exact location was because I was concentrating on actually driving and avoiding hitting them and not noting in precise detail where they were working. It dosne't excuse the fact that they weren't amazing visible considering there location on a major road near to a set of junction in the dark was a tad dangerous.
However the speed and the attitude of some drivers going through Silsden is to say the least apalling particularly at that time of morning. So much so in some places in and around Silsden that I am considering lodging complaints with the Police, if you can't get out of bed in time to drive to work at or below the speed limit then don't drive like an idiot. But some folks will never change.
I agree with the crossings, the amount of time I have apeared to be invisble (which considering my height and weight) is highly unlikely and ended up stood wating to cross while car after car goes past, or even worse you are crossing and people don't spot you and nearly run you over is unbeleivable.

Yup i know HF resonably well and she doesnt speed
please dont tar all drivers with the same brush just because she didnt get to the exact mm how close to the crossing the work was doesnt mean she was doing 100mph |

Going off thread here, sorry Peter, but will add my 10 pennath to the crossing saga. Lastweek I came up from Clog Bridge to the crossing, a car stopped on my side, another came out of clog Bridge, angled across the main road and stopped to allow me to cross. I started to walk across, keeping a watchful eye to my left. A car came like a bat out of hell down from the canal bridge side, I stopped, mortified to say the least. Chap stamped on his anchors, 2 of them in the car, both laughing their heads off. Oh boy, was the air blue, told him in no uncertain terms which body part he was.!!!! They weren't young lads either, old enough to be more considerate. Time that crossing was more user friendly. Crossed over, sat on the bench at Elliott St. end.I had no sooner sat down than another lady was crossing with her little dog, exactly the same thing happened to her, minus the laughing. |

while i totally agree with what's been said on here, have you taken a close look at the state of all 3 zebra crossings recently? the markings are almost completely gone in large areas, the one outside the town hall is probably worst. It doesn't excuse poor driving but it doesn't help the situation either |

MMM yes the crossing needs a good lick of paint , better lights etc , we could do with traffic lights at the end of Elliot street and road markings of 20 mph on the floor on the approach to the canal bridge with a pedestrains crossing sign !!!! job sorted . |
