Where is/was it ?? Whilst waiting to get out of Clog Bridge junction this morning, I noticed a very faded blue and white "Car Park" sign pointing up Howden Road. I have not seen it before now and was wondering where the car park "used" to be. |

not been one up there to my knowledge,poss sign been knocked round and should be pointing up town to the 2 up there.  |

I have seen this sign.Its a very old sign.It should point to the former site of Elliott Street car park. This car park was on the left hand side of Elliott St outside the mills.It was basically parking spaces marked out on the road at an angle to the pavement.It would be very useful now to encourage shoppers into town. I think it was removed rather than using road engineering to make it safe after a tragic accident when a motorcyclist crashed into a wagon which was parked over the parking spaces on a dark(foggy?) night.Not 100% sure memory fading nowadays. |

I had another look on my way home tonight. The sign is on a post and could indeed have been turned round to point the wrong way up Howden Road. Mystery solved........Thanks |
