IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter I think you should close this post before anyone mentions the Silsden Town Council. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) This topic could become a hot topic Victor so long as nobody goes and mentions the silsden town council again |

Victor, I can open this thread again for you if you insist "Aldi Cutting down mature trees on Keighley rd site" www.silsden.net/forum/philboard_read.asp?id=6747&recordnum=70 BUT you will have to post about the tree (the subject of the topic) and not the town council. If you want to talk about the town council you could start another topic. The fact is I saw this last night and was thinking of closing it before someone suggested closing it - the tree is no more, end of story! But a post came on changing the thread and it was late, and I left it until this morning to close. Should I have deleted the offending posts before closing it?..... I just closed the topic. |

So why does the Council have meetings in the coop, and not the town Hall? |

quoteSo why does the Council have meetings in the coop, and not the town Hall? What has this got to do with closing topics? However, the short answer to your question is the Town Hall is not disabled compliant, in that Council Meetings are open to the public and to use the town hall the council would have to employ a caretaker to assist any (disabled) member of the public to use the disable toilet. A caretaker would cost (I think) £45 per meeting, the Co-op facilities are free and allow access for the disabled. Which facilities would you use? You should also note, groups that hire the town hall accommodation on a regular basis have no participants who are disabled. |

quoteSo why does the Council have meetings in the coop, and not the town Hall? If you read the minutes/attended any of the meetings, you would know it is down the rental fee that BMDC have stated that they would charge. Before anyone asks if I have attended any, yes I have. |

So it is true it is the_careing shareing co/op after all and not the careing shareing Bradford council |

quoteSo why does the Council have meetings in the coop, and not the town Hall? Once upon a time (not so) long ago, Silsden Urban District Council had offices on Wesley Place, where council business was conducted. After Bradford Council became our local authority they decided to sell the Wesley Place offices as a cost cutting exercise. The council chamber was moved to The Town Hall. More recently Bradford Council decided to sell the library as a cost cutting measure. The decided to move the library into the space that had become the council chamber. It would appear, again to cut costs the Town Hall refurbishment did not meet DDA and should the town hall be required by the Town Council it would be at additional cost. I would say we should all applaud our Town Council in finding a meeting room that save us all(taxpayers) money |

Thank you Peter. The problem I have is why are there only 2 people on this site who everybody knows, you Peter and Skippy. I have problems knowing which hat Skippy has on when he posts, is it the fun loving Skippy, the Town councillor Skippy, the Mayor Skippy or the Bradford councillor Skippy. When he said " heres to Aldi " I took it as the Town councillor Skippy and that is why I mentioned the Town council. Would it be possible for you to ask Skippy to say which one he is when posting. |
