The poor lad has bit his tongue after pages and pages of silly SILLY posts complaining about the "sports clubs" and the parking arrangements and finally a bit of sarcasm. You all basically agreed on what was right and wrong but continued to lambast the the "sports clubs" about the minority of cars blocking a path that isn't wide enough anyway!!! ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS!!! I am temporarily "unbanned" or have i got a comma in the wrong place peter, therefore bannished?? |

As far as the "Why block the pavement" thread goes it was getting silly comments and there were a few red herrings planted to take it away from the topic subject. The majority of the posts were on parking on the pavement and in particular the area around the football ground. There is NO excuse for this dangerous practise and the club has promised to do something about it - we will wait and see and for now the thread has been closed. In some ways the topic has been hijacked by the parking problems caused by football and cricket matches but there are lots of examples of pavement parking in other areas of Silsden. The topic was not just about car parking as Lola pointed out within the thread, there are bushes and trees overhanging pavements which should be cut back. I hope you continue to make contributions to the discussions. I know it is easy to go off topic but please try to keep to the subject. If you want to change the subject feel free to start a new topic. |

fairy nuff peter. I am involved with the club and i know how hard people are trying to genuinely sort it out. I personally used to stand INSIDE the riverdale car park to make sure people parked in a parking bay and not block wagons, It is hard when the club rep's have no particular authority to tell anyone where to park we can only "advise" and you know how we can all respond to "advice" 1st thing on a sunday morning. The 1st car ignores you and the others take that as "it must be ok then...." WHICH WE ALL AGREE IT CLEARLY ISN'T. - Keith |

I did get sarcastic at the end because of the fact that the path isnt wide enough anyway.But no point getting too serious in life. The sports clubs can get on with seeing what can be done.I will be down at some point on Sunday with my tape measure to see if any cars have left less room on the pavement than 22" on one side or 14" on the other. Personally I have no problem with people parking on the pavement as long as they leave at least 900mm or the same as the narrowest section of the path.Technically illegal but allows both the path and road to move freely.Common sense |
