To anyone who finds they are short of something usefull to do. there are a whole host of thing you can get involved in helping. just to mention two, the christmas lights group are taking the lights down on the weekend of the 4th and 5the Feb. also in maech the youth council have organised a beck clean up, the date will be anounced nearer the time. so stop complaining that you are bored get out and help, you will be made most wellcome. |

Wen I wer a lad a got in trouble wi bobby in Silsden for taking christmas lights down afore christmas, didn't have a ladder I had to use a stone. Tha just can't please some folk, can't, we did clean moss off rocks in't beck oil wi our bikes, and got in trouble fer that anall, nowt changes does it. |

Just as I expected the same very small group were left to take down the Christmas lights. I wouldn't be at all suprised if one year in the not to distant future there were no Christmas lights in Silsden. How much longer do you think this hard working; unpaid group of volunteers will continue if some more of the people who enjoy looking at the display avery year; don't get off there backsides and help. Everyone is busy; but you don't have to work the whole weekend; a morning or afternoon will be a big help, you don't have to go up a ladder, for everyone who does go up there has to be at least 2 on the ground, you don't have to be all that fit to be able to take a bulb out of a box and hand it to someone, but somebody has to do it. So if you like the display; please contact the council give then your details, and come November you will be informed when you can help. The other workers are already starting to plan the display for Christmas 2006, so if they can work all year round just maybe you can give the odd hour or so? |
