Hi, we had several phone calls today stating that our house was in the wrong council tax band and they we were due a rebate of 'thousands of pounds'. Luckily my wife took their phone number, 0161 2121506 (a Manchester number)and when I called back after several minutes of questioning them why, as I'm a Bradford MDC council tax payer, they were calling from Manchester, it turned out that they were firm who would 'fight our case', and take a cut of the proceeds, in reclaiming 'overpaid' council tax, which is of course nonsense. I therefore thought that I would put it on the forum in the hope that it might prevent others from being fooled into this potential scam. Tom |

Hi If you're interested in checking your council tax banding suggest you try Martin Lewis Money Saving Expert - see link - www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/council-tax-bands-change Lots of useful info & entirely free. I can vouch for it - used website info, applied & was rebanded [ downwards  ] & got several years rebate.Worth a go. It's easy & no need to pay anyone for help. |

Just rung me they said i can have up to 2800 moths hell fire id have to give some to doggy BUT then they wanted 149 moths admin fee heeky gits  |

Check your council tax banding on the Valuation Office website. If you think it is incorrect, then contact them to appeal. You don't need to use the cold callers, they are no more expert at it then you. Be careful mind, if you have added a two storey extension to your three bed semi and are in band A, it might come back to haunt you :P |
