IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Topic : Its always Bradford Councils fault!! |

Well it seems to be but its just not fit for purpose. COUNCIL failings mean the district is missing out on crucial cash for schools, roads and parks, according to furious councillors. The Labour-led authority has been accused of failing to prepare for recent changes to planning rules, with opposition groups saying it will now be unable to claim thousands of pounds from private developers to boost local infrastructure. And in what is believed to be the first example of the problem taking effect, schools this week look set to lose out on £68,000 of vital funding which had been expected from a developer building homes in Eccleshill. www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/13331131.Planning_policy_failing_is_costing_crucial_cash__say_angry_councillors/ |

The reason behind pointing out the goings on at local councils is this I have set up e-mail alerts for subjects I am interested in. So if a news item on say Bradford or Silsden councils I get an e-mail alert. If I get an alert from Bradford Council more times than not it involves members or groups of the public with a complaint. If I get an alert from Silsden Town Council more times than not it includes a quote, not from the public but a STC political rival. Strange that |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) gazer the main problem with Silsden town council is they don't tell us what is going on unless a political rival brings it to our attention. Take the Wesley place building for example, how many people know that the council have money set aside for a new building on the site, and at the moment we don't own the site. |

Take the Wesley place building for example, how many people know that the council have money set aside for a new building on the site, and at the moment we don't own the site. Its a strange world we live in. Silsden ratepayers through Silsden Urban District Council purchase land and buildings on Wesley Place. Bradford Council absorb Silsden UDC and its assets and fail to maintain them, then Silsden Council Tax payers might end up taking the land back from Bfd with a cost involved!!! |

Victor, My father told me, "There's none so deaf as them that don't want to hear". STOP complaining that the Town Council aren't telling you things, if you bothered to either go to their meetings, or look at the minutes of those meetings published on here you would know. |

Grandad I take it you are saying that unless Silsden rate payers attend the council meetings or read the minutes on this site, then they are not entitled to know what the town council are doing, I don't think so. |

Victor of cause they are entitled to know! But you should stop expecting to be spoon fed, what do you expect them to do, produce a comprehensive news letter every month at considerable expense thereby wasting tax payers money? |

Not every month, but maybe every quarter. Whatever happened to the quarterly newsletter they used to have printed. Surely not a very expensive request considering the money spent (and the odd time wasted) elsewhere? |

quoteNot every month, but maybe every quarter. Whatever happened to the quarterly newsletter they used to have printed. Surely not a very expensive request considering the money spent (and the odd time wasted) elsewhere? If every three months is OK then there is no problem in reading the minutes on here, they are published by then. But why not be honest you do not want information, All you want is to have a go at the Town Council! |

Grandad!. Did you ever receive or read the quarter newsletter that was published? Not only minutes, but important information on local organisations within Silsden. People received these either through their doors or could pick up a copy at Twiggs, Co-op and other newsagents. A great help to those that CANNOT or do not want to spend hours going through the topics on this website (of which the typed words may not always be the truth!) Not having a go at anyone, just wondering why this important quarterly newsletter was stopped! |
