IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Topic : Bradford rank worst in yorkshire for long term empty houses |
|

just read an article in Yorkshire post about long term empty properties in the region, guess what Bradford comes out worst. 4154 homes left empty, they don't need to build anything in silsden, get these houses occupied! |

That's very good news, however. How many are to the minimum standard, I.e. 5 bedroom 5 bathroom and parking for 12 cars? ( I exaggerate slightly) Coz that's all that seem to be being built. Starter homes? |

I am not defending Bradford in any way, but the government could help with this empty verses new house problem, all they have to do is change the way that VAT is applied, at present new builds do not pay vat, renovations do, all they have to do is switch this around, then you would see the empty ones getting done up. |

4000 houses at £150 000 each is £600 000 000 which explains why Bradford is not exactly buying them up compulsory. Cheaper to build new. Anyhow why should they. Plenty of pundits are predicting a 50% house price crash. If that happens government sorting out will mean councils will end up with a lot more than 4000 houses. Be careful what you wish for. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) They are too busy spending our money (£20M) moving council workers to a refurbish office block so they can knock down Jacobs Well to rebuild it. Check out what they are doing to Jacobs Well, what a waste of money. www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/11822225.UPDATE__Plans_revealed_to_replace_Jacob_s_Well_offices_with_centre_for_3_500_public_sector_workers/ |

Bradford is still rearranging the deck chairs and spending our money on projects which will not have a commercial return. £20m is a step closer to being wasted while there are empty offices in Bradford. A council building has been all but emptied of staff as work continues on a plan to demolish it and build a new public sector hub. More than 1,000 staff members have now been moved out of Bradford Council’s Jacob’s Well office in Nelson Street, which would be flattened to make way for the £20m privately-financed hub under the scheme. The plan to redevelop the site to attract new public sector organisations to the city centre was unveiled around 18 months ago.
