At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Queue all the way down Bolton Road and in the other direction from a standing queue on the dual carriage way. When Bradford propose to put traffic lights on Keighley Road (Tesco) remember this day and the other day when there were traffic lights near to Habisit. news.silsden.net/archives/1624 |

traffic backed up to 'Cringles' this morning twixed 8 and 9 ! |

Oh dear Peter. Wondered when Tesco would be mentioned by you (again!). Ordinary two/three-way traffic lights with proper sensory devices on have no comparison to ONE-WAY road work traffic lights!!!! End of |

I think the point Peter was making is we do not need traffic lights in Silsden, supermarket sponsored traffic control are for their benefit, not ours examples Tesco Skipton and Sainsburys and Asda keighley. |

| Spanish Omelette |
Could do with lights at bottom of Howden Rod as mentioned on many occasions on this forum! |

Have to disagree , far simpler solution would be to make Elliot street one way, I've just travelled from Steeton, whole road gridlocked because someone turning right from Elliot street, prevented a bus turning in. Coupled with the traffic lights result chaos. |
|

and if there were traffic lights then the car would't be blocking the bus, it would be staggered further back - you argument carries no water.... |

quoteOh dear Peter. Wondered when Tesco would be mentioned by you (again!). Ordinary two/three-way traffic lights with proper sensory devices on have no comparison to ONE-WAY road work traffic lights!!!! End of I mentioned Tesco only because it's what the planning application implies ie traffic lights on Keighley Road. Traffic lights are on the planning application go and look it up BUT the proposed traffic lights are not just for Tesco. The idea is Tesco will pay for the work but the beneficiary will be BradMet with the opening up of the Sykes Lane land for development and the land beyond. The traffic lights will have to cope with a lot more than Tesco traffic. If traffic lights are allowed on Keighley Road (for the Tesco or Sykes Lane development) expect to queue from the dual carriageway and from the top of Bolton Road every night. There will be traffic lights to assist exit from Howden Road and Elliot Street very soon. When the zebra crossing is made into a pelican crossing (or whatever you want to call a traffic light controlled crossing) it will allow about 3 cars to exit Elliot Street / Howden Road. If more than 3 cars are waiting to exit from these roads the crossing lights will turn red to allow exit. |

I can imagine getting out of Howden Road would a nightmare if we get traffic lights on the main road. This morning there was a queue back up to the Toyota garage at just after 7am. I decided to go out via Swartha and Brown Bank lane when I left at 8.30, that was really bad as well because everyone else was using it as a rat run coming in the other way. The traffic was backed up to Cringles on Bolton Road again. |

How do you know the traffic lights would be further back, and who said I was Aquarius. |

is it a foretaste if things to come when traffic wants to turn right in and out of Aldi? So long as all Aldi shoppers arrive and depart a few minutes apart everything should be fine, but if people all decide to go at the same time - well. |

Not an unreasonable thought, but is that any different to those already using Belton Rd? |

Only in the quantity of traffic. While there is possibly a bit of a rush morning and evening during the day it is just general commercial traffic. Aldi traffic will be added on to this and so may cause problems. |

YORKSHIRE WATER (somewhere near Aldi) Keighley Road, SILSDEN Planned start date: 21/10/2014 Planned finish date: 24/10/2014 Traffic measure: Traffic Control (Two-Way Signals) We're doing essential work on our network |

Two weeks in a row on the same street, they were also there Mon-Weds last week too. Makes you wonder why they didn't carry on and do it all in the same week. |

Must have been a late start today - van there but not a sole to be seen |
|
| Golden Oldie |
Traffic horrendous this morning around 7.45am. What impact will further housing have on the overall congestion. See that York turned down further development, not a bad thing considering they are always trying to find ways of easing traffic congestion there, albeit that it was deemed illegal( Lendel Bridge scenario). Our side roads are a nightmare at peak times if you are trying to cross over into the far lane. Traffic not much better on my return at 10.30am. |

|
| DoubleD |
The gang who are doing the job will probably be working on another job on Sunday anyway (or be on standby) and if somebody has paid for a new connection then it is pretty essential that you keep your end of the bargain and actually connect them. It could also tie in with the programme of works for the construction of the new Aldi. |

Well took the biscuit this morning. Seemed to be working on the aldi side but the lights were on the otherside of the road and no whole there! |
|
| DoubleD |
You put your lights up before you dig your hole Dodzi |
|
| Dodzi |
So why have the light up on the other side of the road then eh.....they were all working on the OTHER side of the road. No point putting them up UNTIL you are going to dig the road.....But then again this mob put them up last we when they WERENT digging up the road but the pavement. Think the police swicthed it all off in that case. |

quotetraffic way up cringles this am and when through only 8 cars queuing into silsden why cant they take over and wave alot more through towards steeton to ease the jam ,poss too simple for them ![]() They actually have someone from the traffic management company on site during peak hours |
|
| Dodzi |
Came past it tonight and they seem to have filled the hole but left the lights..... |
|
| DoubleD |
They might not have completely finished the reinstatement, the council makes you do it again if it's not up to scratch so best to get it right 1st time or more expense and disruption. Their temporary traffic light permit and permit to dig last until tomorrow by the sounds of it. Worst case is that as the traffic lights belong to a traffic management company they've finished the work but not changed the collection date for the lights, I must admit that would be bad planning! |

quote, the council makes you do it again if it's not up to scratch so best to get it right 1st time or more expense and disruption. Thats a joke surely.Have you seen some of the road repairs the council have just done up around Aireville https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100004879334891&sk=timeline |
|
| Dodzi |
And this morning the "peak times" bloke was there - huge queue up bolton road - nothing steeton side. Top this off with the only hole being on the pavement - the hole in the road complete...... |
