IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Topic : Leaseholds and Freeholds: BE AWARE! |

With all the building going on in Silsden now and in the future thought readers might want to be aware of this concern: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-49935283 It would seem that some freehold properties (especially new developments/estates) are being treated like leaseholders whereby an annual charge is being applied for the upkeep of the green-spaces and road infrastructure etcetera. Basically it means that should you be one of these people that have one of these charges you quite possibly will be paying for the CIL money/S106 the developer has to fork out to the town council through these charges. Basically they are passing the charge on by incorporating the charge into covenants on each property, that way the developers are not paying the tax themselves. Do not fall for this trap if you are buying a new property..Make sure your freehold is freehold and that you aren't subject to any ongoing charges. Be aware! |
