sad news ,probably not local, only the police will be able to trace the number, dont leave it too long, looks like another scumbag on the road giving false details rather than do the right thing he/her was poss not legally on the road ie no insur/mot/d licence or even disqualified as i said the only advice is dont leave it too long before u contact police. |

do the cctv cameras on the main street work? if so it should be on there. What time was it, were you parked and were there any witnesses, description of the person involved etc, if you give a description someone might recognise it |

Even though you were in no way to blame, you have been involved in a fail to stop RTC you should report these to the police within 24 hours, just ring 101 and give them all of the facts. |

It would only affect your insurance if you told the agents. The police need to be informed, if only for the incident to be registered in the crime statistics. |

so the police are not willing to trace the owner from the reg, it would take them a few minutes to look on their database, then the police wonder why they don't have much public support, I bet if one of their relatives was in a similar position they would provide the info.I once had to report something at keighley, total waste of time, ending up losing my temper and walking out |

it's happened to me - you may be surprised but i think your insurance company may help you out here - they have a computer system across most companies and can track the owner and will report to police if they can get evidence - they did for me but i had pictures etc. |

If you contact the DVLA and suply the reg number they might be able to give you his address details, though I think they make a charge for doing so. Good luck |

I think the attitude of the police is disgraceful, if not entirely unexpected. Their attitude towards a lot of crimes seems to be that if insurance is involved, there's no victim. I'd kick up a fuss, if I were you. Letter to the Chief Constable, MP, etc. The next person this uninsured idiot bumps into might be a child. |

I would very much like to know the identity of the thoughtful individuals who scratched my car during this week on Tufton Street.
I will be reporting the matter to the police later today. I hope they feel really clever! |
