IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. At 4 am on January 1st a loud altercation involving a knife was reported via 999 by several residents on Fairfax Street. I myself called once. Two neighbors were having a serious and violent argument in the street. Two women were screaming hysterically and one of the neighbors was loudly screaming that he was going to cut and stab the other. I myself saw a knife in the hand of one neighbor while he was threatening the other. As it escalated further, Imyself intervened but they both ran inside as the police showed up. My dismay came when the police were told that a knife was possibly involved and they instructed the neighbors to "Go inside and sleep it off." The police left and the argument started again. The police returned and gave the same instructions. I have a very basic problem with a drunken irate man roaming my quiet street with a knife in a threatening manner and he is told to sleep it off. He had a knife! He threatened to use it on his neighbor! That is not a safe environment for my family. I am taking the first steps in lodging a very harsh complaint with the policing for this incident. The knife wielder should have been taken away for the SAFETY of this area and for his family. There is no excuse for letting him just go to bed after what had occurred. |

Like I said make a complaint, if you keep quiet nowt is done. Here's the e-mail hanpt1@westyorkshire.pnn.police.uk Here's the site www.westyorkshire.police.uk/npt/area.asp?id=247 If you don't get a satisfactory reply complain to the Divisional Commander or Chief Constable |

I sent the message to that email. I am just waiting for a reply. Thanks for letting me know the next step..... ....and, yes, they definitely lost the plot on this one. |

Just a note to all that read and use this forum. Although this forum provides a means for the residents of Silsden to alert others to problems, or sound out ideas, IT IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE for taking action yourself. If you feel strongly about something then do something about it! We will all help but not necessarily do it for you. |

Just to let everyone know that I had sent a complaint to that email before I posted on here. I am not one to complain needlessly and expect someone else to do the work....I posted because I thought this was serious enough to warrant the community's attention. |
