IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. this post has been edited 1 time(s) Dear SilsdenBull&*^& Why not check out the history section of your local library (whereever you were local to). I note your comment about the Robin Hood Inn, and as a frequenter of most of the hostelries in Silsden, I would be interested to know why you consider it a "God Awful Pub", It has always struck me as a busy friendly pub that raises a lot of money for local charities (Over £3000 for yorkshire air ambulance in the last two years). Have you ever used any of the pubs in Silsden or are you mortgaged to the hilt in a lego house on one of the new housing developments and only venture out at Christmas and New Year ? |

Okay Slsden Bull, Here is a quite from www.robinhoodyorkshire.co.uk/ Robin Hood's Stone, Keighley (Map ref sheet 96SE 045465) is to be found 950 feet above sea level in Holden Park, 4 miles south east of Skipton. Holden Park was an ancient deer forest through which the Airedale trunk road is cut. It is mentioned by Haliwell Sutcliffe in his book By Moor and Fell in West Yorkshire in which he also tells of three wells near Ponden Kirk. The wells are now buried under shale but bore the names Robin Hood, Little John and Will Scarlet, though no-one knows why this is so. |

The Robin Hood might seem like a friendly busy pub but i assure you its nothing but a ridiculing, gossip palace full of people who have nothing better to do than put people down. They need to take a look at their own lifes and sort them out first instead of casting opinions on others |

I think you'll find that this is the case in all pubs. |

Well. Guy of Gisburn is a regular baddy in Robin Hood stories and Gisburn is not that far away. Was there a merry man known as Sid of Silsden? |

If i was asked to vote for the best pub in Silsden id have to say "The Bridge". They do the best ale and nicest John Smiths + the owners and bar staff are amazing. |
