This weekend is Heritage Open Day. You can find lots of local heritage sites which will be open this weekend and worth a visit, but I would like to recommend you visit All Souls Church, Halifax. This is now a redundant chuch and as such not available to look around very often. www.heritageopendays.org.uk/directory/all-souls-church-haley-hill-halifax All Souls Church , Boothtown Road, Haley Hill, Halifax , West Yorkshire, HX3 6DR All Souls is one of the finest Victorian Gothic Churches in the country. Local mill owner and philanthropist Edward Ackroyd commissioned famous Victorian architect Sir George Gilbert Scott to design the building, which was completed in 1859. Despite working on hundreds of churches around the world, Scott considered All Souls Haley Hill to be his finest. The master mason was John Birnie Philip, famous for the Albert Memorial, and the exemplary stained glass was made by Clayton & Bell, Hardman & Co. and Wailes. |

Bradford city hall is open all day,with free entry,guided tours, including the police museum,and 1915 re-enactments of actual cases from then in the old Victorian court house(as seen on Emmerdale and coronation street) |
