this is one for middy or the historians of silsden,by the wall below the weir when doing the wall the beck has been reshaped and it has exposed 5 or 6 wooden stumps,which looks like there has been some sort of structure there at sometime anybody got any ideas.was there some sort of bridge there anyone got any old photos. |

Yes doggy a definite geometric shape, this picture shows four posts, the other two are in line with the four, but now under water. not to worry, shall i send the picture to Time Team and see if they are interested?

Somebody from the Local History Group might have more information, but I just found this in Cathy Liddle's book 'Discovering Silsden' in a description of the weir, "a system of stakes to provide power for a corn mill". |

I can just imagine if the internet had been around back then and somebody built some form of structure in the beck!!!! |

This is a the non return flap for the sewer overflow. Nothing to worry about. There is another one by Clog Bridge.

Yes Peter, if only Bradford had allowed it to be completed, think just how many sandbags could have been saved in the future. How silly of me, it didn't help the centre of Bradford so it had to go. |
