This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

My son, who's 13 nearly 14 would like to earn his own cash and is looking for any part-time work or odd jobs. Any thing considered, within reason. He can't do a paper round as the school bus leaves too early. Any suggestions?

My newspaper is delivered by 7am. What time does your son have to catch a bus?

But this man's son is younger than 16 so he can't even turn up for his round until 7am

See this news report from the Metro...

I was thinking of baby sitting, dog walking, fetching shopping etc. He's already asked at the paper shop and a sunday round only pays £2.50 which seems a bit like slave labour to me! He's going to ask round the neighbours.

The Monday to Saturday paper rounds in Silsden pay £15 for 6 days so all paperboys/girls get 2.50 a day.
Minimum wage for apprentices is only £2.50 an hour too...
not saying it's ok but you've got to start somewhere.
