This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

no, he didn't and he held everyone up in the process, ridiculous hgv's using that road but more and more seem to be doing it, I think someone in a corsa had broken down as well which added to the mayhem.I could not understand why the queues on the westbound side of bypass were worse than the eastbound where the accident occurred, apparantly it was somewhere near the golf club, seems to have been a few accidents in that area, I wonder why.

It was not far from the roundabout at the Keighley end. Car off road into barrier. Goodness knows how they managed that. Police had closed lane to Keighley at the Steeton roundabout quite quickly. Neither of Yorkshires finest were making the least effort to control the traffic. Obviously hand waving in the road is no longer part of their training, or maybe it is a health and safety problem. Chaos was obviously in the offing. Glad we were going the 'right' way.

I think you might find that looking after the injured, will be a higher priority than shepherding dim drivers past a collision, if and when enough staff arrive at the scene then, they can spare time to direct traffic.
Until you understand the work involved, please stop jumping to stupid conclusions.

looking after the injured is surely the job of the ambulance staff and fire brigade,I am sure it would have been possible to let the police sort out the traffic. From the reports in the press there was one minor injury. In the good old days police used to direct the traffic, in fact police used to do point duty.
I hope those involved are all ok now,on an issue not directly related to the accident, can anything be done about unsuitable vehicles using the back road to east morton

Accident at Keighley end. Road block at Steeton end, a good mile away. There were police at the accident. The two at the road block had nothing else to do except watch the chaos on the round about.

My post clearly explains this. Please read carefully before commenting in future.

The police's priorities are accident investigation and public safety. They shut the whole road as its the safest way to secure the road. If there had been criminal reason for the crash and they didn't investigate, you'd all be up in arms. The police, as every other public sector, are squeezed and putting a pc on waving duty is a massive waste of money and resources, those stuck in the chaos just need to be patient I'm afraid. I seem to remember I post this reply whenever this topic comes up!

I would consider a traffic jam around a junction with some traffic moving and some static a public safety situation. Seems to me that training is not fulfilling public expectations.

Anybody who complains about a little bit of a hold up, should try using the M25 at rush hour they will find most of the time it is a car park going nowhere.
Just be patient and thankful you are not involved and possibly injured in the accident. If being delayed a little; makes you late for whatever you were going to, then set off earlier.
Many has been the time when I have arrived at an appointment early, been seen and away before the time I should have been there.
Chill Man life is to short for this sort of excitement.

aparently if your brittania movers at Skipton you can block a main road on a bus route and emergency service route because you can when challenged shrug your shoulders n say delivering something

Yes unless there is a sign saying "No loading" at the time you are loading/delivering, you can park on double yellow lines!

That's why we don't want any more new houses in Silsden. The development above Middleway, starting with 26 houses could go to 40 and more. Imagine Clog Bridge.
