At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Topic : Brown wheelie bins |
|
| gazzer |
The council are to collect unused brown wheelie bins but have said this "The authority says people are welcome to keep hold of their bins and put them to another use, and that it expects around half of households to do just that." If anyone wants to put their redundant bin to use with someone else please post so others can collect them.Im sure the council have nowhere to store 55,000 spare bins. |

Perhaps some suggestions for alternative uses for your brown bins would help the recycling as well. Perhaps to store logs Grow potatoes ??????? |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) What a waste of money that was - sending them all out only to collect them back in because alot of people don't want to pay for it. Typical forwards thinking from brad met! I mean why couldn't they change to payment at the time the damn bins went out.... |

this post has been edited 2 time(s) fill with leaves compost and a bit of soil and peat now,,, top up in spring get a 2" hole saw put loads of holes all round it makes a lovely strawberry grower and u can still pit potatoes in the top ' '); or a small hole in side at bottom fit a plastic tap and it makes a great water barrel for filling off a garage or shed/greenhouse gutter. |

If you have an unwanted brown bin we could use them at the football club. Please email silsdenafc@hotmail.com and we will collect. With over 250 children at the club + parents we fill litter bins for fun!! Thanks |

I have not had any contact from the council about removing my brown bin. I have not asked for it to be removed. This afternoon a neighbour told me someone had come onto my property and removed my brown bin Ford Fiesta FP56 LZE whilst we were out I was considering subscribing next year to have the brown bin emptying service and I had my green bags in the bin. I have contacted the council I am a resident off Ingsway Silsden. Did anyone know that bins were to be removed ? |

I had read somewhere the council would pick up the brown bins today if they were left outside your property by 6.30 |

The bin was on the property not outside it. I note the reference to the council website. How did residents realise this was happening ? |

The council bods came onto to my property yesterday to remove the brown bin. I did not leave it out on the pavement for collection and it also contained my own green waste bag. I have complained to the council about this. Anyone else have this issue? |

quoteMy neighbours who paid the money for green waste collection THIS YEAR received a brand new bin, so I shouldn't worry too much about them removing your bin if you want your green waste collected next year. If you wanted to keep it, and they did say you could, then it's a problem. |

It is a problem. I did want to keep ithe bin and it was on my property. I rang the council this morning to make sure they had received my email ( giving the Reg No of the vehicle) I have not so far had a reply. Thanks for your post Steve. It's always good to hear from others that they have had a similar issue. It would be interesting to know if you have had a response ? |

I sent an email to silsdenafc@hotmail.com with my contact details a few days ago,no reply as yet. Have you got enough bins? |

My husband had a call from the council today asking for more information about the vehicle that removed the bins apart from the registration number I sent them that a neighbour observed. I had an email saying they had sent info to dept about new bin. The person on the phone said they could not replace my green bags as they no longer provided them 😁 If anyone has anymore information about the car and trailer please can they send it to the council. Perhaps residents need to be alerted in case this vehicle is removing any other items from properties. It's theft. Thank you . |

Sorry mor clear. What I meant to convey that the vehicle did not belong to Bradford Council. |

My brown bin was picked up by a man with a car and trailer, but he was from the football club and I gave my bin to them following their appeal. |

Neighbour now says it was a Ford Focus not Ford Fiesta with the previous Reg given. Feeding this back to council tomorrow as they have no vehicle with that registration number. |

Perhaps the bin was picked up by mistake from the football club so maybe someone could check down there. If not does anybody have a bin that is not required and if so I could arrange to pick it up and drop it off for snowdrop. |

quoteNeighbour now says it was a Ford Focus not Ford Fiesta with the previous Reg given. FP56 LZE = 1600cc petrol silver Ford Focus. BTW if it's yours the MOT runs out on 7 Jan 2017. Could this car possibly belong to Toby who collected your bin by mistake when he was collecting a bin for Silsden AFC ??????? |

I did not give consent to anyone to take my bin and the garden bags that were in it from my property. Someone seems to know the owner of the vehicle. It may be an error but trespass and theft unless resolved. |

On Sunday 11 December at 8.30 a.m there was a vehicle with mesh sides (as used by Bradford Council to collect bags of rubbish) parked in the field gateway on Belton Road. The vehicle was loaded with brown wheelie bins. |

I know you are angry but I'm sure this was just a misunderstanding. I also think your response is a bit OTT. |

A Brown bin has magically appeared minus green bags. ? Council or the Ford Focus. |

Hi Snowdrop, it was us who removed your bin, and will obviously bring it as soon as possible, Toby said he was told to collect from number 7, which I take is you, do you have a 7 on the bin? |
|
| Snowdrop |
Thanks very much for the explanation. That's fine. I am not OTT as implied . As I said mistakes do happen but in this day and age you have to be vigilant. It was not the No 7 at my address that gave permission for the brown bin to be removed. So maybe another No 7 is awaiting collection. Am not at home at present but my husband is and informs me a brown bin has appeared. Not ours X do no green bags. Presume this maybe the council. Seasons Greetings. |
