Anyone know what happened on the crossing by the bookies at 7.50 this morning. I pulled up to turn into Keighley road from Elliott st, 3 cars slewed into the side of road, people on the crossing, someone appeared to be laid on the crossing. Time something was done there, too many near misses, but not today.Hope the person involved is o.k. |

BREAKING NEWS Pedestrian injured in collision in Silsden 9:47am Wednesday 5th December 2012 in News By Alistair Shand A pedestrian has been involved in a collision with a vehicle at a zebra crossing in Kirkgate, Silsden. The incident - at the crossing close to the Howden Road junction - is causing long traffic tailbacks towards Steeton and Addingham. The extent of the pedestrian’s injuries is unknown. |

I hope for the best for the people involved in this incident. Perhaps it is not the right time to raise this and if people feel so then it should be left for a later time. But.. I use that junction and that crossing often as a car driver and as a pedestrian. It is a very difficult junction to navigate and gives me grief every time I use it. Would anyone be interested in trying to get lights put up at that junction. I would be interested in this. I really hope all is well for the people involved. |

While having every sympathy for the pedestrian injured this morning I have to say people using this (and other crossings) in Silsden do not help themselves. I will relate one of my own experiences - the other night at about 8pm I was driving over the canal bridge, a car stopped before me to turn into Howden Road, a car had stopped before the zebra crossing by Curry Corner - it was very dark and raining - I only just saw some movement - a lady dressed in dark clothes hurried across the crossing from the Howden Road side of the crossing - SHE DID NOT LOOK TO SEE IF ALL THE TRAFFIC HAD STOPPED BEFORE CROSSING THE ROAD IN FRONT OF ME. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It may be pedestrians have right of way on a zebra crossing, but it is foolish to assume all traffic using the road has seen the user on the crossing. Pedestrians MUST LOOK at the oncoming traffic BEFORE crossing the second half of the crossing. ![]() ![]() |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) I think that safety has to depend not on what people should do but on what they do do. I have turned right into Kirkgate many a time from Howden Road. There are too many things to get right at that turn - traffic from over the canal bridge - traffic turning left from Eliot street, traffic to the left of you turning left into Keighley road, bad weather conditions, traffic coming from the right, a bus pulling out, people turning up to the crossing during the time you are processing all the rest. It is over load at that junction. Let's have some lights. |
|
| aflac99 |
Lights will just back everything up onto the bypass what is needed is a mini roundabout |
|
| gazzer |
The crossing should be outside the Robin Hood and mini roundabout(s) at the junction. But I doubt traffic lights could be put up because you would have cars stopping frequently just over the hump back canal bridge. |

Is anyone surprised at this....traffic speed and awareness at that point is bad. Only answer is a 20mph limit....enforcable with cameras....before a fatal one happens. Cars are travelling too fast. The CCTV camera should have picked this one up anyway...it looks down on this area. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) Thanks for replies. There could be problems with traffic lights I take it - traffic backing up etcetera. What about the suggestion of a mini roundabout? Or a 20mph limit. Does anyone know how to go about agitating for some kind of investigation into how to make this junction safer? Would it be the town council's area or who would be in charge of this? |

Cars are travelling too fast. The CCTV camera should have picked this one up anyway...it looks down on this area. I object to this generalised comment. The other night I was travelling at less than 20mph and did not have to brake hard, BUT the fact remains I only just saw the lady AND she was not looking after herself by wearing dark clothes and assuming the traffic had seen her, and she was not even remotely aware of the traffic conditions. If the crossing was moved further up Kirkgate people would just jaywalk as this is the natural crossing point for pedestrians. A double mini roundabout would be good, for traffic, but I'm not sure about pedestrians. Traffic lights would definitely be bad news for all, just think United Utilities. |

Whatever the solution would be, something NEEDS DOING. Many's the time I have sat on the bench at the junction cringing. 6 of one and half a dozen o'tother. I have seen people young and old just walk out onto the crossing with out a thought for themselves or others. I have also seen drivers carrying on driving whilst someone on the crossing. I myself have had a number of near do's, a taxi overtaking the car that was stationary, allowing me to cross. A bike rider overtaking on the inside of car, an old guy talking to his wife (sideways)driving on the inside of a car that came out of Howden Road and pulled up for me . Nit wits on both sides of the fence I'm afraid. |

Something needs doing! Absolutely. Any ideas. It needs a brainstorm maybe. |

yes too many things happening at this junction, the mention of a double mini roundabout about best as there are quite a few about now ,but in this case and many villages and small towns as well is definatly a 20MPH speed limit, ive just gone through morton today and there 20mph starts halfway down the bighill right down through morton and past the tops turn off for silsden |

Thankyou Aflac I will come to council meeting. Hope others interested might come. I am really scared by that junction. |

Would it not be better to just move the crossing further along and away from the busy junction ? I think one of the biggest problems is when cars are waiting to turn right into Howden road, that the cars passing through Silsden try to squeeze past on the left and are so busy concentrating on the other car, that a person crossing the zebra from right to left has no chance. The driver just isn't looking for them. Mini roundabouts would just confuse drivers even more (I am thinking of the one near the police station in Skipton), where all the cars stop and the drivers sit looking at one another, then they all set off again at the same time , then they all get annoyed at one another and do crazy stuff. Move the crossing to a position where drivers can give more attention to it. |

however much you bicker on here, law or no law, i would be vigilant all the way over the crossing. left or right. drivers can be thoughtless. distracted or just unaware of hazards in built up areas. and on dark mornings and nights especially, dark clothing doesn't help for the pedestrian. the point being, i wouldn't strut across a zebra crossing thinking 'i have right of way. so everything else on the road will come to a stop. it might not! |

Agreed Bobber yes the pedestrian has the right of way but as you do i am very carefull when crossing |

bobber You are right; there is no point in being DEAD right, the problem with this and many other things on the roads is simply bad drivers, Yes it is a junction that needs extra care by everybody, but if you can’t cope with driving then go by bus, or get some more training! Traffic lights on this junction will open Woodside road up for housing development, not what we want or need in Silsden. |

....and why do we have a busy A road running through a small town?.....Forget lights and mini roundabouts - Lets get the by-pass built! |

TOTALLY NEEDS SOMETHING DOING , ITS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN |
|
| GAMEKEEPER |
Pedestrians might have right of way on a zebra crossing, but common sense and observation have to play. I wish I had a pound for every pedestrian I have seen dressed in black/very dark clothing just run into the road after dark. |

Pedestrians only have the right of way on a Zebra if the cars are OUTSIDE the zig-zag markings. Cars that are within the zig-zags when someone steps on the crossing would have a case to answer that they did not have enough stopping distance. SO BE CAREFUL TO EVERYONE! |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) Spanish Omelette, read rule #195 from the Government site below - it is the person operating the vehicles responsiblity to stop. End of. Physics might make this a little difficult but, as we all know, the law is an ass. https://www.gov.uk/using-the-road-159-to-203/pedestrian-crossings-191-to-199 BTW - I completely agree that you should wait until the traffic stops and I continually repeat that advice to my kids, but shouting that people 'HAVE' to do this is fundamentally wrong. |

Earlier in the year the people of Silsden were asked to complete a town survey. One of the questions was: Road danger spots (Appendix K in the survey) Ref 2012survey.silsden.net/wp-content/results/2012Silsden_Survey-Report.pdf I have extracted your responses about the Howden Road / Kirkgate / Elliot St junction.....there were rather a lot ![]() ![]() ..........36 Pedestrian crossing of bypass. Zebra crossing at Clogg Bridge. 39 Junction at bottom of elliott st. Traffic lights at zebra crossing? 42 Elliot st ,kly rd 20mph speed limit through village 43 A lot of drivers don't stop at the zebra crossing just over the canal bridge. I don't know if they don;t see it but I'm frequently half way over the crossing and someone drives in front of me. 51 Traffic lights or roundabout at junction of Kirkgate/Clog Bridge/ Elliott Street 52 Elliot Street and Howden Road access onto Kirkgate needs a hatched areas to prevent through traffic clogging access thereto 60 bottom of howden road elliot street would be much safer with traffic lights 65 The junction of Clog Bridge and Kirkgate is a major problem, an accident waiting to happen: made all the more significant because it is the sole entry point from Kirkgate to Howden Road and all the estates in that area, which means that if it is blocked then there is a real danger problem of emergency vehicles not being able to get through. 66 The Howden Road, Elliott Road staggered crossroads is quite tricky but people who are local know to let people in and so on. 72 Crossing the road before Clog Bridge on Howden Rd. Poor visibility and many children use this area. 95 roundabout on clog bridge and skipton rd. 98 junctions on main Keighley Road/Kirkgate with Howden Road and Elliot Street - at busy times these junctions become very dangerous when turning against the flow of traffic especially with traffic coming over the canal bridge. 101 Elliot street junction A6034. Surely a mini roundabout would be much easier at this very awkward junction. Traffic lights possibly but cost??? 107 Howden Road outside Waterloo Mills, the Toyota garage and the junction of Howden Road and Ings Way.The road is narrow. The unction of Howden Road and the high street is 109 Clog bridge - where Howden Rd joins the main road. I suppose there isn't room for a mini roundabout, which might improve things. Re-siting the zebra crossing might make it safer, or allowing traffic exiting Howden Rd only to turn left, and creating a space or a mini-roundabout on the other side of the canal bridge for cars to turn round and come back again if they want to go into the village. 111 Exit right from Howden Road on to Kirkgate. 129 howden road is like a race track maybe impose a 20 mph limit also the junction with howden road and elliot street is an accident waiting to happen something must be done at 135 The cross roads between the main street and Elliot street (including zebra crossing) is always too busy - people nipping in and out. Traffic lights? Also the school bus stops on Skipton road - when there's a lot of rain a very large puddle forms taking up the whole of one side of the road. 136 Suggest 20mph zone from canal bridge to King's Arms. Also difficult to cross Bolton Road by Memorial Gardens/Bell Square - mini roundabout possible? 139 THE PEDESTRIAN CROSSING AT ELLIOT STREET/KIRKGATE/CLOG BRIDGE JUNCTION. SHOULD BE A PELICAN STYLE CROSSING 169 Junction of Howden Road and Main Road/Elliot Street. Needs a mini roundabout. Remove the blue balls on the approach to Silsden, have two lanes of traffic, one for turning right, one straight on and a mini roundabout. 170 junction of howden road to main road. A one way system, way out under canal, onto belton road 173 The pedestrian crossing at Clog Bridge. There is traffic coming at it from 4 directions and in my view there is an accident waiting to happen. It should either be moved or taken away and replaced with pedestrian lights and I favour the latter. 174 The Elliot Street/Clog Bridge crossroad isn't very good. 188 The crossroads at the end of Elliott Street 190 The junctions of Elliot St and Clog Bridge onto Kirkgate. It's very dangerous especially as there's a zebra crossing there. Is it possible to look at a one way system into Elliot St preventing access to Kirkgate? 196 Junction of Elliot Street/ Howden Road and Keighley Road can be difficult and dangerous at times due to speed of traffic appearing in a short distance over the canal bridge. Possible traffic signals could assist. Possible speed restrictions on Howden Road at near junction with Hawber Lane? 213 End of Elliot street. A silsden bypass 217 The junction of Elliott Street, Krirgate and Clog Bridge . It needs traffic lights or a mini roundabout 224 Elliott Street access onto Keighley Road. Needs improvement- use of possible mini roundabout. Remove parking adjacent to beck. 226 The Elliott Street/Clog bridge junction. Turning out of Bell Square onto the main road there is a blind spot to the right. 230 The bottom of Howden Road, corner opposite the carpet shop. The junction of Howden Road with the main street. 234 all the zebra crossings. some drivers do not seem to see pedestrians crossing the by pass - there should be a proper crossing junction of Keighley Road and Belton Road needs a round a bout 235 The bottom of Aire View. this is used for people trying to turn right onto Kirkgate rather than at the bottom of Elliot Street and is safer and easier than trying to turn out of Elliot street. However, traffic turning into Aire View from Kirkgate causes problems, especially as there are parked cars along the length of Aire View.New Road is already one way from Kirkgate. Aire View could therefore be made one way from Prince Street. 237 Clog Bridge/ Elliot Street and Bell Square/ Bolton Road blind spot at Briggate 240 The turn off from the main road for Howden 245 Pedestrian crossing at junction of Main St & Howden Road. Turning right out of Howden Road is a nightmare at busy times & often just when you've dashed out taking advantage of a small opportunity you find a pedestrian on the crossing I have to brake suddenly. Yes, ideally we should look out for them but it's not that clear cut & I'm surprised that there's not been a serious accident there. The whole of that junction with the staggered crossroads is a nightmare. 252 Junction at Howden Road at peak times. Part time traffic lights would help 254 Staggered crossroads at bottom of Elliot Street a major hazard. Never use this crossroads if I can avoid it. Crossroads near Co-op and junction to main road near Kings Arms gets very congested as this is the only safe exit onto main road for people living in houses at Co-op side of road. Likewise with Clog Bridge being only way onto main road for Howden Road area housing. Not sure how to solve this - need to get a highways expert on it! 267 I am surprised that no one has yet been killed on the zebra crossing out side the books the number of times I have been walk acorss and a car has just continued and i have had to stop. 272 no proper crossings, often cars don't stop on the main street 274 Pleople dropping off passengers at train station 275 The bottom of Howden Road. Too many areas to watch including the pedestriancrossing. 277 as above 281 The junctions of Elliot Street and Clog Bridge with Keighley Road/Kirkgate is hazardous and should have traffic lights. 292 Junction at Elliott St, Keighley Road and Clog Bridge, unfortunately poor driving skills and impatience lead to bottlenecks and possible accidents 293 Junction of Elliott St, Kirkgate, Clogg Bridge. Mini roundabout suggested. 299 Bridge Stree. Bottom og Elliott Street Bottom of Aireview Bottom of Shed Side Clog Bridge 301 Traffic lights at the bottom of Elliott Street. The type with a sensor on. 303 To change the layout from Howden Road and Elliot Street to make it safer for cars coming out of busy junctions, this could be done via 2 mini roundabouts or traffic lights at peak times. 306 Traffic control measures at the juction of Elliott Street/Kirkgate/Clog Bridge. 314 Regular parking on the main road outside Days of Grace gym causing danger near the bridge 319 Elliot Street/Keighley Road junction especially at busy times.Possibly rush hour traffic lights. Out side the schools at drop off and pick up times. More police patrols and fines for inconsiderate drivers. 321 Clog bridge/Elliot Street and that mad lollipop woman who seems to step onto the crossing without any regard for anything else going on! Traffic lights? 322 I cycle. The following is a list of places where I feel that I have previously been in serious danger of being run into by a car that has failed to see me (or simply ignored me) as I use the main road to travel southbound between Silsden centre and the Aire valley road : Elliot St/Clog Bridge intersection with Kirkgate Junction of Keighley Rd and Howden Road Junction of Naylor-Myers/Shell garage with Keighley Road Northbound: Elliot St/Clog Bridge intersection with Kirkgate Junction of Aire View with Kirkgate 326 Elliot street/howden road/ keighley road junction. no suggestion. ..................... 331 The zebra crossings are regularly ignored. I have personally witnessed many 'near misses. Introduce speed humps. 333 The end of Howden Road. The lower end of Skipton Road. 339 howden road onto the main street is a real danger spot and the system needs to be changed. 342 Canal bridge area on the main road 345 Zebra crossing by Elliot Street junction, frequently find that cars do not stop and speed past here. Making this a pelican crossing with lights would surely help. Also trying to turn right at the same junction emerging from Elliot Street can be hazardous at times with speeding cars emerging suddenly from over the top of the canal bridge. 346 The zebra crossing outside the Betting Shop is really bad due to cars struggling to get out of Howden Road and two lanes of traffic approaching it from the bridge. Getting across the bypass if going to the train station. 351 Turning right out of Elliot Street onto the Keighley/Bolton road. Likewise turning right from Howden Road onto the Keighley/Bolton Road.Drivers have to rely on the courtesy of the more considerate drivers to let the cars out. I think a roundabout would just add to the congestion in this area. So add some signage to make drivers aware that consideration should be given to other road users................ 361 the bottom of Elliot Street is a nightmare to exit. Parking should not be allowed their lives in their hands trying to cross the by pass toward and from Station Road 363 pedestrian crossing by Elliot Street/ Clog Bridge on main road. Cars often don't stop 376 The junctions of Elliot street and Howden Road. Traffic exiting Aireview into Kirkgate. Parking on Skipton Road. 380 Elliot Street/Main Road junction 387 howden road junction pulling out, junction with bell square & bolton road 401 Re-paint stripes at crossings on roads and posts.. Illuminate the beacons on posts. Warning sign south of canal bridge that there is a crossing after bridge.20 mph limit. 414 1. Clog Bridge/Kirkgate/Elliot St junction - there should be a double mini roundabout. 418 Clog bridge/elliott street junction - poss mini roundabout/lights at bridge to slow traffic 421 howden rd turning needs addressing. 427 Crossroads of Elliott Street and Howden Road - perhaps suggest traffic light that can be seen when approaching the bridge coming into Silsden. Always a nightmare junction. 428 the main bridge in silsden, next to old bridge pub. some speed up coming up from the bypass, when cars are pulling out of elliott street or people crossing over the road. May be some signs of speed ramps. Also, stopping heavy goods vehicles from using the main road to bypass through silsden when not dropping off in silsden. With the parked cars that slows traffic down (good idea), these HGV's cause congestion. 430 ........... and exit from Clog Bridge/main street/Elliott St/Kly Road is a nightmare! 431 Crossroads at bottom of Elliott Street, turning right over canal bridge. Public seat is in the way plus sometimes cars park alongside the kitchen shop making it difficult for buses to turn. Improvement: remove public seat/bench and widen the corner for better vision of oncoming traffic. 435 Junction of Elliott Street with Howden Road - roundabout needed. ...... 436 Silsden's zebra at the junction of Howden Road outside Bet Fred. As a driver and pedestrian people miss-use the zebras and jump out. When driving down the town the corner of Howden Road acts as a blind spot and people come out onto the crossing, I think a barrier there might help - on a push button crossing. 442 Junction at bottom of Elliott Street. Need for traffic lights with advance warning for traffic coming over the canal bridge. Too many parked cars on Skipton Road hinder the view of other cars and could easily cause accidents. On Bradley Road I'm sure cars often exceed the speed limit. More enforcement of the law is called for. 444 Cross roads at Elliott Street/Howden Road when driving. Traffic can come quickly over the bridge. 446 The junction at the bottom of Howden Road and the High Street along Elliott Road and onto the High Street. As above the road crossing to the station. 447 Tricky road junction where Howden Road joins the main road at Clog Bridge, made worse by the adjacent pedestrian crossing. Also difficult where Elliott Street joins Keighley Road especially turning right. Suggest mini-roundabout or traffic lights. 449 Elliott Street/Main Road. Kings Arms junction. 460 Elliott Street/Clog Bridge junction... Due to traffic coming over the canal bridge being unseen crossing at the end of Hainsworth Road due to the bend in Howden Road. 466 The crossing along main street Silsden - cars don't stop and if van is in from of a car driver they are not always aware that there is a crossing if they don't know the road. Need to have a flashing beacon to press when want to cross the road or traffic lights. Not much room to pass (cars) main street. Parking should not be allowed along main street. Need to provide more parking spaces for those who want to shop in main street especially Post Office/First Stop etc. 468 Junction of Howden Road, Clog Bridge, and Elliot Street with Kirkgate. Traffic lights. 473 Lights need at the junction of Howden Road main street over the canal bridge and Elliot Street. Impossible to get out of Howden Road and Elliot Street at peak times. 479 Silsden crossing at bottom of Howden Road. 488 Bottom of Howden Road. Bottom of Elliot Street. Possible traffic lights. 489 Very difficult to get out of Howden Road to go up town towards Ilkley. 491 Zebra crossings! Cars don't stop . Aireview at school time – one way street. 496 Bottom Howden Road into main road. Elliot Street into main street. 508 T-junction at Clog Bridge - Kirkgate mini roundabout. 512 The pedestrian crossing to Clog Bridge - cars regularly don't see people either waiting on the crossing or part way across it as they are focused on the two junctions. This would be better with lights at the crossing. 521 People not stopping at the zebra crossing especially the one by the bookies, cars come too fast over the bridge. 524 The zebra crossing at the junction of Howden Road. Even with a lollipop lady on duty, cars sometimes fail to stop and I was nearly run over halfway across the crossing. There does need to be some lights! 528 Kirkgate zebra crossing at Clog Bridge. 529 Main St - change zebra crossing to pelican. Main St - ban parking by Post Office (if it was road works, instead of parked cars, there would be traffic lights). Howden Road/Main Rd junction - put traffic lights on this junction, incorporating the crossing, when there was major gas works with traffic lights it was far easier to get out of Howden Road/Elliot Street. 530 The junction from Aire View that joins the main road by the bridge - left. And also Howden Road when turning right. 547 Howden Road junction/Elliot Street junction. Mini-roundabout. 549 Clog Bridge Elliott Street, Kirkgate why don’t we make it one way under the culvert (going towards Steeton). Daisy Hill (Howden Road) make the road up one field to the top of the park, it would help all the residents this side of Silsden, it was supposed to be done a few years ago. 550 Zebra crossing near Clog Bridge almost hit twice by cars coming from Clog Bridge turning and not taking care of crossing. 552 Junction with Elliott St and Kirkgate. The corner should have been taken off where the boatyard is to allow better vision up canal bridge and allow room for buses and large vehicles to turn. 554 Clog Bridge/Elliott St junction traffic lights. Traffic in Kirkgate ban articulated truck. 576 Zebra crossings. All of them. 577 Personally have a major problem getting out of Elliott Street. Traffic lights may help or a mini roundabout but the speed of traffic over the bridge would be a problem there. Coming out of other end of Silsden means getting held up in town. 578 The junction of Clog Bridge and Elliott Street is really bad but I don’t know what would help. 582 Junction - Main Road/Elliott St/Howden Road traffic lights at this junction. 594 Howden Road and Kirkgate bad get out. 600 Zebra crossing. Pelican crossing. 602 Traffic speeding up Howden Road, speed warning signs or cameras. Junction at bottom of Howden Road - mini roundabout. 604 Traffic lights Elliott St junction with Main St and Clog Bridge. 605 Bottom of Elliott St - traffic coming from Clog Bridge. HGV's coming through the village. 608 Remove all High Street parking. Put mini roundabout at Clog Hill/Elliott Street/Howden Road junction - presently very difficult to get out of Howden Road/Elliott Street. Ensure lollypop lady waits till she has group of children before she stops traffic. Presently she stops traffic for every 1 child. She should not use facility for adults without children. 613 .... Trying to get out of Elliott Street on to main road. I am sure cars are not keeping to speed limit over canal bridge. 618 Bottom of Elliott Street getting out. 619 Junction at Elliott Street/Clog Bridge. Junction at bridge Street onto main road. Zebra crossing - drivers don’t always stop. 631 The most dangerous place is trying to turn right up Silsden coming off HowdenRoad when traffic is coming over the bridge and off Elliott Street and down Silsden may need a small roundabout. 632 Stop all parking in the main street and put in slow down bumps. Also the crossing for pedestrians, need to be traffic lights no one stops any more to let you cross. Getting very dangerous to cross the road. 667 The junction at the bottom of Elliott Street and Keighley Road needs traffic lights installing. The junction from Bell square into Bolton Road. 670 Junction - Howden Road/Main Road and Elliott Street traffic lights. 678 Bottom of Elliott Street to main road and coming from Howden Road. Traffic lights would be useful. 679 Crossing at Kings Arms 682 Elliott Street/Kirkgate/Howden Road junction is very busy at certain times of the day. People using the zebra crossing are sometimes ignored (tea time). 684 Traffic lights at the bottom of Elliott Street. The type with a sensor on. 690 Kirkgate/Elliott Street/Howden Road junction and crossing - cars do not see the crossing - traffic lights............ 705 Zebra crossings. Warning signs for motorist they are approaching a zebra crossing a lot of motorists do not stop when a pedestrian is crossing (accident waiting to happen). ....... 706 The zebra crossing at Howden Road/Elliott Street junction is far too near the junction. Pedestrians walk out of Howden Road immediately on to the crossing. It should be 15/20 yards nearer town centre. 715 Clog Bridge onto the main street, traffic lights at this crossroads. 723 Junction of Clog Bridge, Main Street and Elliott Street. Build pedestrian crossing and roundabout. 724 The crossing of Kirkgate from Howden Road into Elliott Street. We could do with a mini roundabout to help steer traffic to required road. ................ 727 ...........Junction of Elliott Street and Howden Road with Kirkgate. 728 Turning right onto Kirkgate from the bottom of Howden Road. Traffic lights urgently needed. 733 The junction of Howden Road, Elliott Street and the main road. Perhaps relocate the zebra crossing/mini roundabout? 735 The clog Bridge area; access from Howden Road onto the main road. ........... 736 Clog Bridge. Pedestrian crossing. Through traffic ignores speed limit. Cars come round at speed. Pedestrian crossing too near to bend. Witnessed many near accidents to pedestrians. 767 ...........Traffic lights needed at the junction of Keighley Road/Howden Road and Elliott Street - short sight distance from hump back canal bridge. 784 Elliott Street junction. Junction of Elliott Street and Kirkgate with vehicles over bridge. 800 Zebra crossings in Silsden people often ignore these I have been on the crossing many times when cars continue to drive straight on - pelican crossing. .......... 816 Exit to Kirkgate from Howden Road. 817 Turn out of Elliott Street. 820 Zebra crossing in Silsden need changing to pelican crossing particularly the one near bottom of Howden Road outside betting shop. Seen quite a number of near misses where pedestrians are on the crossing and traffic has not stopped. 821 Both my children need to cross Howden Road (Clog Bridge area) to catch the bus to South Craven each morning. I worry about how busy with traffic on this road is, and the speed that cars come around the bend down Howden Road. 825 Turning right from Howden Road. Tuning right from Elliott Street. ............ 830 Main street/Elliott Street/Howden junction. Parking on canal bridge - double yellow lines both sides............. 837 Suggest traffic lights at junction of Elliott Street. The three pedestrian crossings on the main street are useful but motorists not familiar with the town do not seem to see them especially if traffic backed up. 924 Difficulty getting out of Howden Road to turn right can be quite dangerous as people get very impatient. Traffic lights? Mini roundabout? 926 Junction of Howden Road, Main Street and Elliott Street. A double mini roundabout, give way to traffic to you right, 20 mph speed throughout Silsden.
