I have noticed over the last year or so, at least 3 shops/restaurants/takeaways have had their exterior doors and windows painted or have been told to do so. Why are we still faced with scruffy and tacky buildings? I would like to see banners and posters removed and "everyone" asked to paint their shop/restaurant fronts in a bid to smarten up the place. |

What - with a name like Wilma  Nooo I'm not at all, I just like Silsden and don't like to see it looking shabby with some tenants asked to improve their property and others tenants left without a word said!! |

I agree wilma, Aire View Stores is a particular bug bear of mine. They did the interior up and redecorated the flats above but left the front!?? It's a mess and just seems to get worse and worse. We live in a nice area and places like this really bring it down i think. |

I agree lisa t i think it's about time aire view stores were made to smarten up it brings the area down. There are various shops in silsden looking tatty at the moment. |

Ok, Aire view stores could do with a tidy up, but its like a palace next to those bloody take aways down in the village. That bloody pizza place? what a fikin dump and an eye sore! Who would buy food from somewhere that looks like that?? I think most of the shops look ok, its a small amount of shops that need a right good kick up the ass! But then what about the people who have homes that look like that? do they need to shape up aswell? |

I seem to remember that when they took over the place the windows all started getting smashed as quick as they tried to re glaze.... and has anyone gone in and spoken to them about it rather than just having a go on a website.... Can I just point out I am not an employee/owner of this store |

I was actually referring to the takeaways - I wasn't going to be specific but the "Crazy Chef" paintwork is probably on a par with Dario's. It looks like a slum when you drive past. I think anything on Kirkgate should be made to be kept to a certain level of tidiness. I coordinate maintenance of offices that my company have and we are forced into keeping them to a certain standard. Takeaways should be made to smarten up more than houses as they are selling food to the public. Houses on the front from the bridge look nice, they don't have them in a state. What are the kitchens like if the outside is dirty. |

Baldybogy is absolutely right. The sad looking exterior of Aire View Stores reflects the mindless 'welcome' given to the current owners when they first arrived: threats, broken windows, smashed doors, abuse. Any disgrace belongs to the bigots and thugs, not to a family who work really hard to provide Silsden with a really excellent and traditional corner shop. |

Aire View in my opinion is not an issue, it's the tacky rundown takeaways with their banners and grotty exteriors that I do not approve of. So what's the point of the banners, we all know they exist, so do most people who pass on a regular basis. Windows are occasionally smashed but I still think they could paint the outside. Why be brought down to the thugs level and mentality? |

How can you say that Aireview stores is like it is because of the 'Welcome' they had when they moved in? That was year's ago and as already mentioned they have done the inside so why not the outside? I agree with the statements about the take away's on Kirkgate. It's like walking through some part's of Bradford. |

It's quite simple really..... window gets smashed.. insurance pays for replacement window gets smashed.. insurance pays for replacement window gets smashed.. insurance pays for replacement, but says... hold on we need to up your insurance or not cover any more broken windows. window gets smashed.. Don't bother the insurance just board it up and loose the revenue source (wanted/for sale adds went in that window).. Now if I found my garden fence kept getting the same mindless damage, I would also decide not to bother repairing it any more. But that would not stop me decorating my living room... |

The windows have not been smashed now for about 3 years ! They would have a job on smashing them when they are covered with shutters on a night. Its not the windows thats the issue its the whole outside of the shop.The sign has been broken for at least 7 years to my knowledge with letters hanging off and letters missing. |

I agree Baldybogey, good point however there hasnt really been any problems there for ages. Doesnt take much to replace the sign for a painted one so the letters cant be knocked down and to put UPVC in the bottom windows aswell as the ones already replaced above - if they're double glazed surely they're less likely to smash? Like claraclutterbuck said if you live near to it it's such a shame to have to look at it everyday. I have to say it was nice they sandblasted that awful white paint off though! |

I think the "best " one is Hills Bakery It has a 5 figure tel number - they must have changed to a 6 figure number 27 or 28 years ago!!!  |

i must add the house near the bottom of aire vew that had 2 dozen or so 6 inch nails sticking out of the front door last year has to be the most impressive. the holes are still in the door to this day. would've been awful if a little one had fallen onto it on their way to school. |

Yes, Hills is another, but I don't think it's as bad as some of the takeaways. If the little "Kirkgate Cafe" can afford to do it, I feel sure the others can. They just want to take your money (not mine as I won't go in)and don't give a hoot how their shops look, perhaps their homes are the same. Well done to you Kirgate Cafe! |

hills bakery is getting a very big face lift, by the new owner very soon. has for aire view some of the houses been unkept. i think most every street has a house like that. when you live on a busey main street you get lots of rubish left by passer buys. |

well said 'ugly'. i often find after a shop at the 'cwarp' that, when they don't have something you want. almost certainly aireview stores will have it! you pay a bit more maybe but 'hey ho' they are what is called a convenience store. well done aireview stores,we need you,keep it up. |
