Please explain why motor bikes don't queue at the lights like cars ? Is this in the Highway Code ? |
|
| greengrass |
And why do they not pay in car parks ![]() |
|
| BMWR1100SS |
first off we ride motorcycles so we dont have to queue...unlike all of you in your tin boxs...second we dont pay for carparking places because we dont take up anywhere near the same size space as your tin boxs...next question... |

I agree. Perhaps Cobbydale Man would like to tell us why cars don't signal to pull out of Howden Road in to the traffic lights? |

maybe anyone would like to tell me why the twit pulled out of aireview on Wed tea time and nearly got 14 stones of me plus mountain bike embeded in his car door? I'm not exactly slim enought to miss seeing ![]() don't give bikers a hard time, it's enough that car drivers kill loads of us every year. |

just the same anti bike brigade sounding off again.... |
|

this post has been edited 1 time(s) How many of the "anti biking brigade" have ever ridden a motorbike, maybe if they where made to ride one for a week they would have a different view on us, you get fed up with "sorry mate I didnt see you". The one thing that should be changed in my opinion is that headlights should be on when riding, only so the tossers in tin over coats can see us. Anyway hot and sunny here this morning so going out on the bike, |
|
| greengrass |
You should still have to pay in car parks even if you doun,t take up much room and while were on here what about you dip sticks that overtake on double whit lines then ![]() ![]() |
|
| pumbajunior |
yes there is also a different speed limit on all roads for bikes i believe its what ever said bike tops out at |

The reason bikers (Bradford Park Rangers excepted) do not wait in queues is because they are safely able to filter by such obstructions. This is perfectly legal and in accordance with the highway code. Some car drivers (not all by a long shot) are obviously jealous of this advantage available two wheeled vehicles. It is perfectly obvious that all two wheeled vehicles and more efficient in their use of road space. If all the wimps sat in cars who could be on two wheels it is likely that most traffic jams would disappear. As for Motorcycle parking and payment. Does anyone know what the policy in Bradford actually is? Leeds provides proper motorcycle bays with a barrier to lock the bike on to. North Yorkshire requires bikes to pay the same as cars. If I park and pay in North Yorkshire (usually only in Harrogate and very rarely) I make sure I take up a whole bay and photograph the ticket just in case some four wheeled tea leaf tries their luck. South Lakes allow bikes to park free in their vehicle parks. South Lakes gets all the affluent bike tourists, especially at weekends. |

Anyway hot and sunny here this morning so going out on the bike, I learned to ride a bike long before I could drive a car, and still do ride from time to time. So I am a great believer that ALL young drivers should be made to learn to ride a bike if only to give them appreciation of bike riding. BUT I would say six months and not a week |

I usually forget to put my headlight on but always wear an orange tabard and have never had a problem. When I have asked about what drivers actually notice it seems that an orange tabard, or even just a sam browne is often noticed before a headlight. A headlight might just be a Volvo or Saab. One can over do the safety visual bit. Building site accidents have not fallen since everyone is in bright orange. Probably becasue everyone is blinded by everyone looking the same. |

more bikes less cars will lead to a much nicer paced world love the dropped down kerbs great for getting off the road and on to the pavement can not belive the council put them there for us bikers thanks. |

| Cobbydale Man |
Vey much the answer I expected. Selfish, bikers who don't know their Highway Code. I admit there are some car drivers with the same attitude towards other motorists. |

Do you know what 'Bigot' means Wobblemonster? Your reply just backs up my theory. |

My husband is a biker and has been for a few years. Not all bikers should be tarred with the same brush. My hubby rides his bike to and from work and will only overtake queueing traffic if it is safe to do so ! Many bikers out there do ride safely and it's only a minority of bikers that give the rest of them a bad name. Can you actually blame any biker in silsden considering all the roadworks not wanting to wait in traffic if it is safe to overtake it all ?????? ![]() |

quotePlease explain why motor bikes don't queue at the lights like cars ? Is this in the Highway Code ? Why does it bother you? They don't make you wait any longer. Buy a bike and chill |
|
| Cobbydale Man |
That is exactly my point. Why can't bikers wait in the queue, why do they have to overtake stationary vehicles? Because they are thinking only of themselves. They would not 'push in ' at a supermarket check-in. |
|
| alan |
Perhaps 'cos it's the cars causing the delays, not the bikes ![]() Are you one of those who doesn't let bikes past on the A65 etc just to prove a point that you are superior in a car? |
|
| Cobbydale Man |
Alan, I don't think cars are superior. We should be equals. Please overtake me on the A65 if we are moving but at lights or Junctions wait your turn. |
|

im not too sure why cobbydale man has such a big problem with bikers !!!! are you telling us you never overtake in your car ?????? get a grip ! |
|
| Cobbydale Man |
Ha, Ha ,Ha, very funny Alan. What a sense of humour. You must be the funniest boy in nursery. |
|
| Cobbydale Man |
You have missed the point Claraclutterbuck. I don't overtake stationary traffic. In fact, I don't have a car at the moment so I am using my Honda 125 to get around. |
|
| BMWR1100SS |
i over take stationay vehicles...why because i can.....:> thats what two wheels are for...would you expect a cycle to sit behind a line of traffic...if so please carry on your "rant" but atleast have a proper reason..other than they should wait there turn...because thats just jealousy...get a bike or shut up... |
|
| claraclutterbuck |
no i don't think i have missed the point as you said selfish bikers who don't know the highway code i don't actually think any body is commiting a crime by overtaking you maybe you should read the highway code. As i said beford don't tarr all bikers with the same brush ! |
|

My head's hurting ![]() Are you saying if you get stuck at the end of a long queue of stationary traffic you just sit and wait on your bike? |
|

all bikers av to be good riders so they dont get knocked off by an idiot in a tin box who dosent look or is on a mobile ,lighting a cig ,eating, reading a map ,aving a shave and thats only a few things ive seen them doing in the last few years. |
|
| alan |
Correct doggie |
|
| carliol |
I'm not sure what all the fuss is about, it makes sense for bikers to head for the front of the queue, and it makes room behind for the cars! I have always found it easy to move into the nearside to let bikers thru, and many of them give a left hand " thanks" for doing so. Come on guys....live and let live, life is complicated enough.... |
|
| BMWR1100SS |
well said carlio |
