Watch for a phone call from someone claiming to be from the council claiming you owe council tax,threatening a court appeareance if you dont pay up then asking you to pay by credit or debit card!!!! |

Simple Answer:- Sign up to Bt preference, this gives you free caller id and protects you from silent calls. Ideally get 'unidentified call rejection' a small charge applies but well worth it. Dont answer any call you're unsure of, let the machine take the call. Non-payment of Council Tax is dealt with in the Magistrates Court, not County. At least two summonzes would be issued before the bailifs would be sent. |

or if you have time get into a conversation, asking all sorts of obscure questions and quoting spurious references. Remember, they are paying for the calls. of course as these are crooks feel free to be rude as well. I have had some nice conversations with nice Indian ladies who always fail to sell me a new phone. They get puzzled at a montly usage cost of £1 or so. As they are earning a living I am always nice a polite. Wasting their companies time is fun, but do not over do it. Last year I bought a unit trust based on Indian companies. doing all right. |
