I am sat at home bored and have been reading the forum and with the recent posts for best fish and chip shop and takeaways etc how about best butchers shop,as i recently felt i had to defend Fodder fruit and veg and Smithies butchers thought I would nominate Smithies, excellent service and good quality meat. |

The butchers shop at the bottom of Bradley road does steaks to die for, I know some of the other butchers get their meat from the same supplier, but it's always better from that one for some reason.

The only one I've shopped in so far is "Isherwoods" (?) - seemed pretty good. |

ladies and gentlemen we are lucky enough to have 3 top quality butchers here in silsden all of whom buy from the same top quality supplier we should encourage one another to use them all to make sure we dont lose any of them in the LEAN times to come |

the jokes where a bit shoddy, but as skippy says 3 good butchers in town unless u want tough meat from its all at the c**p, but going back a few years we had the best pork butchers in silsden and surrounding area and the pork pies were the best ive tasted and that was bottomleys butchers which used to be where lazeezs curry house is |

I have to say the only butcher in Silsden worth their salt is...............Smithies I think its a father and son business???? Their sausages are chunky and firm, the service is first class and even tho its quite a small shop, he seems to be able to fill it and make it interesting As a reformed Supermarket shopper, I would def say support local businesses!! But they do wear really dodgy pinny's !!!! |

My vote goes to Isherwoods, family run business Beef and Lamb is from their own farm in Kildwick & pork is locally sourced and all slaughtered in Ilkley so animals are not stressed by long journeys |

I absolutely agree about animals enduring long journey's, but the meat that is at Smithies Butchers is slaughtered at Agars and is locally sourced. Animal welfare has got to come at the top of any ethical shoppers list and I also believe that their chicken is free range!! Also, if you are a crap cook, they offer "stick straight in the oven" ranges that even a blonde haired bimbo like me can manage!!! But they do look somewhat like the male version of the WI in their high ended fashionable aprons ! Silsden needs supporting whatever or its just gonna get swallowed up in the masses of industry |
