IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. this post has been edited 1 time(s) Has anyone else noticed the rather inappropriate hand written sign at the bottom entrance of the park by st johns street? It has been placed at the gateway to this persons house by the gap in the wall and whilst i appreciate that some dog owners are not responsible with picking up poo, there is absolutely no need to scrawl on a stone slab DO NOT LET YOUR DOG S*IT HERE. children walk up that lane and its appalling, mindless behaviour from adult in such a family area. The more i see it, the more angry i get. Rant over! |

I agree that this is inappropriate. As children also read these posts I find your post also inappropriate, and I believe it is stated in the posting rules that this sort of language should not be used on this website for that very reason... Please edit your post....... |

I requested a bin be placed at the top of Mitchell Lane in January 2011. I raised it at a Silsden Town Council meeting and it was put through to Bradford, but nothing has happened. ![]() ![]() ![]() Did you know there are over 20 bins around the playground area and the main entrances to the park. But on the far side of the park (South entrance) there is NOT ONE BIN but it serves as an entrance/exit to the park for perhaps a third of the population of Silsden. You can see my report/suggestions to STC regarding a solution to dog mess and litter in the park here: www.silsden.net/forum/forumpics/More_bin_provision_required_to_stop_dog_mess.pdf |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) Apologies. I didn't realise young children would be reading these posts. I did not mean to cause offence. |

quoteApologies. I didn't realise young children would be reading these posts. hollberies In this particular case I think you were probably correct to quote verbatum. After all, if the children can read this forum they can certainly read a notice writen on a sign in public view. A few of our children know even better words which they like to write in public places. As a general rule I do not allow such words because they do nothing for the debate and offend people. |

Get a dog localman next doors cat used to go in our garden ever since we brought daisy back 4 years ago the cat detours along the fence (was funny the time the cat slipped landed on the wall and shot off like a greased weasel when she realised Daisy was onto her) |

I have seen 3 of the same signs in Silsden. I think the only solution is to have a dog walking area specially fenced off in the park, at least then if dog owners don't clean up then they are walking in it themselves. |

I don't see why there should have to be a special dog park (I know you're being constructive) but I just feel these people need to be forced in some way to face up to what they are doing. I'm not advocating signs with rude language on them but I totally feel the frustration of the writer(s) of these things. I'm seriously considering some CCTV at my house to catch the swines who keep letting their dog sh*t outside my gate. I'm keeping my eye out and if I see 'em they'll get a surprise package delivered thru their letterbox! |

so all this dog muck you see,you actually see the dog doing its business with its owner?how you know its not a dog doing it without its owner there, but if its owner is there, why not confront them in the 1st place? |

Probably because in this day and age you never know if you are going have the dog set on you, or worse still get assualted by some loony who doesn't give a SH.........IT Most people are quite happy to walk away and moan about it on here though. I agree this problem needs addressing, but it needs to be by the authoroties who have the power to do something about it. |

localman I am alarmed at your quick assumption that the reason some bins are full on Tufton street is because the owners are lazy slobs. As a resident of Tufton Street and mine was full the other week I take slight offence. We did not have a collection for two weeks and I recycle most of my rubbish so it was unusual even after two weeks to be full. There are families on this street with two or three children and if the collection wagon cannot get down then it cannot collect and this has happened quite a few times of recent. But yes on the dog mess on New Road I thoroughly agree! |

Flossie there are wheely bins half way up tufton street backstreet just past the covered kinnel that have not been emptied for months one is full to the top with beer cans and has been the same for months go have a look if you do not belive me (there is a visible murphys can in it and has been like that for nearly a year. |

Going back to the original topic (sort of) - if this guy can have a sign like this in Mitchell Lane. Why don't St. James Church have one saying "Do Not P*** Here". Having just walked down the main street and witnessed two people who could not bother to use the facilities available at The Kings Arms relieve themselves in the gateway of the Church, then having to cross the Post Office Bridge and find someone else relieving themselves, I would like to point out that it is not only dogs and/or dog owners who should be blamed for fouling the streets of Silsden. |

I take it no-one has any response to that then! |

silsden had three public toilets open all the time one in the park one on the canel bridge and one at the top of the town (which is now locked up at night) so if you are taken short were to you run to at nighttime 10. In the UK, a man who feels compelled to urinate in public can do so only if he aims for his rear wheel and keeps his right hand on his vehicle. this is a true fact bylaw knowing a lot of police men they say if a person has been taken short and is peeing in a hidden place ie behind a wall in a bush they would just advice them to try and get to a toilet if the were peeing in the street or a public place or there willy was visible this would be a would be a an offence under the common decency laws so they say and a on the spot fine would be issued but they were still a bit unsure if it was a real offence to pee in public Public being the determining word ie peeing in the street with people around or peeing on say the canal bank with no one around best thing to do is just take your car with you |
