This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

If they have enough candidates in the next general election they will make quite an impact on the results, Farage might be the only leader we can trust not like Clegg and his "No Tuition Fees" mandate, bloody crook

UKIP is a single issue party.

They do address other issues one of which is the dismantling and privatisation of the NHS.

As far as I am concerned UKIP is the party that panders to a number of unpleasant attitudes.

UKIP as a party are a joke! In a recent party political broadcast, they pledged £600 to every UK household. Great idea, but they gave no indication as to how they planned to finance it!

I visited the BBC news site yesterday and saw a news article given by Nigel Farage. He slated other political parties for having candidates who were far more interested in furthering their own careers than the populace. He must have forgotten Robert Killroy Silk. It might have. been a few years ago, but some people have longer memories than goldfish!!

The long term financial forecast is uncertain for all of us. I think that it is too late to legislate anything on immigration. I honestly think we should get out of The Eurozone before it is too late.

I have not seen anything from a local UKIP candidate in the local press. It would be interesting to see their proposals given the range of nationalities in this area.

Silsden has a number of Eastern European nationals, a few Asians and a few Africans amongst others. Whilst Silsden does not have a college or university, immigrants coming to this country to study do provide work for a range of people. Students starting a university course after this year can expect to pay £9000 per year. I have met students from America, Norway, Sweden who are paying £18,000 per year to study in this country now!

The proposed £1000 charge for all immigrants could well discourage both immigrants and international students alike. It will be interesting to see if it is introduced. It could prevent unskilled Romanians and Bulgarians from coming legally. It will not do anything for the thousands of illegals that are here already and those at Sangatte.

It is all of these that are at least partially responsible for the 72% increase in the tax precepts seen in Keighley.

North Yorkshire elections have seen a rise in UKIP votes.
