IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. This planning application will affect everyone in Silsden, whether you have primary age school children or not. The position of the proposed new school is such it will generate a lot of extra traffic and has the potential of making Silsden impossible to get through at peak periods of the day. It will also open up the Banklands land for the building of many more houses with access via a road from above Tannery Corner (Bolton Road) - This will not be a bypass. With this in mind, I urge you to read the documents and make your comments to Bradford. There are a lot of documents associated with this project - the following can be viewed from the www.news.silsden.net website (rather than from the Bradford Planning Portal). These are the major documents published so far which will allow you to see the proposal without having to view duplicates and view "every" document. www.news.silsden.net/facilities/silsden-school-planning-app-1705793reg STC PLANNING MEETING - THURS 16th November 2017 at 7.30pm (in the Town Hall Meeting Room) There will be an extended Public Adjournment [max time 45 mins] to view the plans for the school and seek advice on how to make your comments to the planning authority. |

Yes everybody is welcome to come to this meeting, it is intended that the Public Adjournment will be a fairly informal part of the meeting. However it is part of the Council meeting; the chair is still in control to keep order. Therefore it is requested that all discussions are conducted in a civilised manner. |

The message from the meeting last night was - "... if you have any comments to make on Silsden's new school then you should make your views known to Bradford Planning". The number of comments is VERY IMPORTANT, the more comments the more chance we will get the school we want, and not one forced upon us. We all probably agree Silsden needs a new school, but is it in the right place? (although it is probably the only location available). The access to the site is terrible, do you have any better suggestions for making access easier? What problems will the school impose on the Silsden community if the school is built to the current plans? Please remember the final plans for this school will affect the lives of everyone in Silsden for years to come, we need to get it right from the start. If you follow this link: www.news.silsden.net/facilities/silsden-school-planning-app-1705793reg it will guide you through the plans and provide the links to the planning portal where you can make your comments. quote This planning application will affect everyone in Silsden, whether you have primary age school children or not. I stand corrected but at the council meeting after the Public adjournment, did one of the councillors say the school should be built and then we can look at the problems with access after it is built. |

Victor Wasn’t sure if the guy you are talking about was a councillor. However..yes... he did try and sum up the meeting by stating what you said. I found it an astonishing remark...considering the concerns in question. In my eyes he was ineffectively saying that Silsden should be held to ransom over the housing proposals from Tannery Lane. I honestly do not think that is good enough. We need the right access in place before the school is in place. We cannot at all be assured from Bradford or anyone that any kind of access to the school will happen when the houses are built. If indeed it might then i bet your bottom dollar it will only be an access gateway/path for the resident in the proposed housing there and not any kind of major access. Can anyone clarify ...was it 400 or 800 houses? |

It was 800 houses |

Yes that was a town council member, unbelievably. “Lets just get it built and worry about roads later” was his comment i think. |
