Topic : Dogs barking - your views please ???? |

Morning all Just wanting your views on this please ? I live on daisy hill & I'm recently recovering from major surgery, been off work for 5 weeks so far, hoping to be back working again early to mid August. Currently spending time enjoying the sun in my back garden yet I have a neighbour that has a dog which when they're not in, barks constantly, generally goes on from around 8am till mid afternoon, I'm not usually 1 to complain but this dog is right getting on my t*ts now, I'm just wondering how others would deal with it ? Would you complain directly ? Contact the council ? Just grin & bare it ? Thanks in advance Jibbsy |

Initially, I would go round and tell the neighbours directly. It is more than likely that they are unaware of the fact that their dog is barking and howling throughout the day. It would also give you an idea as to how the dog(s) is/are kept. I know of one or two individuals that leave their dogs in the back garden all day with no shelter and no water! Going to the council will only cause ill feeling, at a time that you really don't need it. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) Where we live (knowhere near Daisy Hill)we can hear a dog barking consistantly in the distance all morning. If I was one of the neighbours I would do something about it. Let's face it there is nothing nice in hearing a dog bark - or perhaps only to the owner. Only you can anticipate how the owner is going to react if you tell them about their dog. If you think that they will take it the wrong way then contact the 'Barking Dogs' service on the Bradford Council website. You can do this anonymously. But if you confront them first, and they don't do anything about it, then you contact the council they will know who reported them. It isn't a nice situation to be in. Keep us posted. P.S. I would write a polite, anonymous note and put it through the letter box.As said in a previous post they may not be aware of this.If you then decide to take it further they won't know who complained so hopefully there would be no comeback on you. |

I used to have a large dog. I received a number of anonimous, nasty, threatening letters, one addressed from the 'whole of 'my street''!! This was very distressing for me as I was personally being threatened as well as my dog. I wrote a letter to every address on my street and hand delivered them along with a copy of the most recent letter (this is going back a few years now). The response I got back was overwhelming. No one had an issue with my dog barking (we used to let him out in the back garden generally through the day when we were in, and never let him out late on an evening - if he barked I generally went to look out the front garden to see what/who he might be barking at as he was very territorial) and how disgusting it was receiving a letter like that, especially when it wasn't most people's view anyway. I also contacted the dog warden to see if a complaint had been made, none had. I would have much preferred someone come direct to me with the problem. There are still a lot of dogs on my street (sadly I no longer have mine) and some you could time your watch by, 11pm every night for one in particular. If this did get to be a problem for me then I will be paying them a visit (if I can work out who it is)!!! |

Thanks for your message Becky, I would never send threatening letters or try speak for the whole street as this is my view only, I'm currently listening to the said dog barking as I type which isn't ideal, if I send a letter myself it may only cause to get my neighbours back up, never talked to them before so I've no idea what kind of people they are, think I favour letting the council know so they can kindly ask them to sort it out, I'm certain they won't go in all guns blazing & yes, maybe I am avoiding confrontation but I feel a letter from the council carries more weight than a letter from a random house nearby who's owner they don't even know |
