IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Is it just me or do other people find it hard to contact the Health Center by phone. I rang to make an appointment on Tuesday and i was waiting for 12 min before i made contact. I rang again on Thursday and after 10 min i went down to the surgery to find a line of 6 people waiting at the desk. A man in front of me remarked that this is the only way you can get anything done. When it came to my turn i was told they can do nothing as computers have been down for more than a week. |

No it’s not just you |

This has been the case for quite a while now. You have to let it ring until they answer which can anything from 10 minutes to 45 mins. Then when you get through there's no appointments. Like you say if you decide to go up there's always a massive queue, which can be half an hour of a job. Only one on reception struggling to cope, instead of someone from the office lending a hand. It appears to me there's no one managing this practise, or if there is they aren't doing a very good job. It's a shambles that, if not sorted could cost lives as some people just give up hope of ever getting an appointment. |

theres no appointments because there is not as many doctors as there used to be,thats why they are using the triarge system of a call back from a doctor who can listen to your ailment and decide whether it needs an appointment or not. |

GP practices suffering IT problems for weeks following 'air-conditioning failure' This is the reason the computer system is not working at the Medical Centre GP practices across West Yorkshire have experienced IT problems for almost two weeks, after a failed air-conditioning unit forced a shutdown of servers covering three CCGs. The air conditioning unit at Douglas Mill data centre failed on the 10 October, forcing the servers to either shut down or lose all the data at NHS Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven CCG, NHS Bradford City CCG and NHS Bradford Districts CCG. The 81 practices affected by the system failure had different levels of problems, including not being able to access emails. The CCGs were in the process of migrating the data from the Douglas Mill servers to a new location in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary after ‘having identified risks’ with the system. However, the migration was not complete by the time the air conditioning failed, and some data had not been transferred when problem arose. A spokesperson for the affected CCGs said they were ‘working round the clock’ to get the systems fully operational again, with the IT supplier eMBED Health Consortium working with IT specialists DELL and Phoenix 'to resolve our current IT issues'. The spokesperson said: ‘Our main system infrastructure and VDI environment stabilised over the weekend, and progress is being made on some secondary issues. Whilst we are continuing to experience issues as the system begins to balance its load, GPs are able to work within the contingency mode of SystmOne.’ They added: ‘We know that the continuing issues are making it harder for our practices to do their work, and how frustrating it is that the issues are continuing to add to backlogs for practices. We are working with clinicians to put in place systems and processes to manage risks in clinical quality and care.’ ‘GPs are able to see and update patient records and have systems in place to manage urgent and fast-track cancer referrals. We aim to fully restore IT systems as soon as possible.’ |

After reading the posts on here, I have looked at the cqc report which was last carried out in 2016. The report shows a rating of "good overall". This may have been accurate at the time, but I feel it is now out of date. In the interests of not creating an argument, I won't go into the issues I have with the centre, suffice to say a letter has been sent off to the cqc. Hopefully, this will see some action to resolve the situation. |

I hope your compliant to the CQC is dealt with quickly. When i made a compliant some years ago asking them to carry out an investigation i was told that they need more than one complaint against an establishment before they can look into anything. |

Thank fully i myself have never used this practice; having heard so many issues with the place i’m glad i didnt change practices! A friend of mine had several issues with the practice, mainly over appointment issues. When he eventually got fed up with the hassles of dealing with the receptionists ineptitude and attitude he apparently asked to see the manager. A letter soon came forthwith telling him he was no longer welcome there! It sounds like the practice is failing customers big time. |

I have recently received a letter from the Health Centre, which requests an annual blood test. AS BLOOD APPOINTMENTS AT THE SURGERY ARE LIMITED, PLEASE COLLECT A BLOOD FORM TO TAKE TO EITHER AIREDALE GENERAL HOSPITAL,SKIPTON GENERAL HOSPITAL OR KEIGHLEY HEALTH CENTRE. YOU COLLECT THESE FROM EITHER SURGERY ----------. I am mobile and can get around, but what about those that cannot. Just another nail in the coffin!! |

what I don't get is if you need a form to go and give a blood sample at Airedale, why don't they post one out to you in the letter telling you you need a blood test? |
|
| cars |
they are very quick at Airedale, especially if you go half an hour before they finish at 5.00pm |
|
| wheelaman123 |
Airedale charge for parking, so you pay to give a small amount of blood. I go to Skipton. |
|

whilst they were having computer issues i had to make an appointment with a doctor so he could hand write a blood form for me. how inefficient is that? btw 20 mins free parking at airedale is enough to go have a blood test without paying |
|
| wheelaman123 |
Hat, have you tried walking from car park into the hospital give blood and walk back to the car park.? depending on how many people are waiting at best it will take more than 20min |

quoteHat, have you tried walking from car park into the hospital give blood and walk back to the car park.? depending on how many people are waiting at best it will take more than 20min Yep done it several times well within that time. As long as you’re not going at peak times its easily doable |

The phlebotomy (hope that's right) clinic is right by the main reception so it's not far to walk actually. |

Silsden & Steeton Medical Practice joins GP 'super-partnership' https://www.cravenherald.co.uk/news/17544736.silsden-steeton-medical-practice-joins-gp-super-partnership/ Time will tell if the change improves the service. I suppose things couldn't get any worse than it is at the moment! |
|
| wheelaman123 |
So will this mean if you want an appointment you may be offered one with another surgry as far away as Skipton. |
