I have been to the park, to the weir and round and about this weekend. Maybe I am normally not so observant but the amount of disgarded rubbish seems to be comletely out of control. The play areas in the park were covered in litter. Many streets around town (in particular on Elliot Street) seems have a lot of litter and while we were at the weir feeding the ducks I ended up picking up dog poo as there was even dog poo on the gravelly area in the actual weir itself. I had guests staying from out of town and I found it extremely embarrassing. |

Have just returned home from a week away near Scarborough. On our walk this morning we passed dog muck, broken glass, takeaway poly trays, and lord knows how much more litter. What an eye opener, doesn't the population here have any pride in the place? The village we stayed in is a conservation village, no ltter of any description to be seen, and certainly NO dog dirt. The folk there are so proud of their areas, plant up tubs to brighten up the main street, keep their paths free of weeds and muck. What a difference in outlook, all it takes is pride and a few minutes to spruce the place up regularly. I wonder how much value would go onto houses if all roads were kept smart and presentable. |

It would be nice to think if we all (every silsden) did our gardens and the pavement in front it would make the place look so much nicer. I know with my own garden though it is a dumping ground for other peoples rubbish and I get dog poo left on my front yard. and each time I come in or out of my house there is always some rubbosh to pick up. I have actually picked up more dog poo left by other dogs than from my own dog this weekend. I despair I honestly do. |

I have been in Silsden for a month now and have to say that I have noticed that the pavement outside the carpet shop is absolutely disgusting. Every time I have walked past it there is dog S**t on the pavement. Why do dog owners presume that it is acceptable that they allow their dogs to foul the pavements the way they do??????? |

I remember the local Silsden council yard used to have locally employed folk that would clean all the town week in and out with brushes and wheel bins. Why can't local people on't dole be required to do this task before they can collect, not like they will be taking work from anyone else. |
