This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

I have noticed that work is being carried out for BT. I assume this is the installation of fibre optics.
Is it because Silsden is on the tour route? Up in the Yorkshire Dales it certainly is the case where BT vans can be seen along much of the route, installing high speed optical communications.

Any other benefits of the tour been spotted?

That's odd. The BT Openreach guy working on the setts by Greens old mill just down from Clog Bridge told me we would soon have high speed internet, etc.

One benefit has been shifting council workers onto projects like making sure the roundabout at Steeton looks tidy. On the downside it looks like manpower has been shifted from such as cutting the grass at the cemetry which is a mess at the moment.

what about the eyesore on the way into silsden from bypass, ie the balls, all need repainting or removing and the disgrace of the derelict site, it is absolutely disgusting I am do not understand why whoever owns this site has not been forced to tidy it up.The allotments are also a disgrace and the moron who burns rubbish was at it again at the weekend. If the cyclists get a lungful of that smoke they will fall off their bikes!

Its a bit like someone knows the council enforcement officers do not work Sundays. Same as those that know council traffic wardens will never be around to ticket cars parked with all 4 wheels on the footpath at the top of the town.
