Great spelling Greengrass !!! You obviously did not go to Hothfield.
These workmen are getting away with murder. Half the time they are in the pub or a cafe or watching their mates work.
There is a hole in the road in Silsden but it's ok the Police are looking into it !!! |

I never noticed them! although the traffic this afternoon was horrendous ,it would be interesting to ask everyone thats sat in the jam whether they really needed to come through silsden, I think not.The workmen do not appear to be in a hurry to get the work done, this is exactly what happened when they were in crosshills.Half the time nothing is being done, they should be working till dusk and saturday and sundays, it would be done in half the time so probably would not cost anymore, they are just stretching it out.Don't know who needs shouting at, presume United Utilities? or is it Bradford council? |

I think UU should give us another press release and inform us what they are doing.
Are the works on time? Why have we got yellow lines? Are the yellow line temporary? Is the road going to be resurfaced when they have finished? Are they fed up with fishing the no waiting bollards out of the beck or do they just need to use them somewhere else?
Are we all regarded as mushrooms? |

The lights are temporary only whilst the works are carried out.
The Town Council has ALWAYS been AGAINST parking restrictions in the area, and will continue to be so!!! |

the yellow lines look temporary, the paint is different. I don't blame whoever did them, I have seen 2 people move the cones, and park their cars in the spaces! So maybe the lines will deter these people. There are bigger problems with the traffic, and traffic management seems to be a bit confused, last night the traffic on Bolton Road was back to the top of the hill, but at the other end there were only 6 cars in the queue coming up from Steeton roundabout.....can't be right. |

I actually think it would be a good idea to have permanent yellow lines on kirkgate , no parking whatsoever, traffic would move a lot more freely, and a speed limit could be enforced to stop people speeding through, it works in other places. Car park is near enough for anyone to walk to shops |

ginjo, I'm with you on this one. It could also get us our 20 mph speed limit like Crosshills if the Council would stop thinking that traffic congestion is the best way to deal with speed. Kirkgate defies all common sense in allowing parking outside the post office etc. Let's have a bit more progressive thinking on this for the future. |

To quell any rumours THE LINES ARE TEMPORARY whilst UU are doing their works. They WILL be removed once the works are complete.
Silsden Town Council have ALWAYS supported allowing parking on Kirkgate and WILL CONTINUE to do so.
They have also fully supported the shopkeepers in the town and WILL CONTINUE to do so in every practical way including passing on concerns to the company and Bradford Highways. |

Ha! so they did need to use the cones somewhere else and didn't appreciate the no parking area in the middle of the beck.
Pity they couldn't use a bit of common sense and paint a box junction at Howden Road / Kirkgate junction while they were at it. |

there is no parking in the main street in Crosshills, the shops all seem to be OK, and they have a 20 mph limit. Surely they manage to cope, and the traffic flows well (except when they dig the road up again). |

Couldn't they temporarily remove the zebra crossing nearest the lights? I know its used a lot, but yesterday was a nightmare. Everytime the lights changed for Silsden traffic to go through everyone wanted to cross. |

Have you tried to get out of Cross Hills in a morning or into Cross Hills at tea time?.Station Road should be called Stationary road. There are 2 car parks on the Main Street and on street parking at the back of The Spar and Victoria Avenue. There are a lot less shops than Silsden and even the single butcher could not make a go of it.Some shops dont even open everyday and a few survive on school children buying lunch. |

A possible solution would be to remove all the pavements and make the high street a free for all with no priority for road vehicles over pedestrians. Effective speed limit is about 5 mph, which on average is higher than it usually is. In other words vehicles and pedestrians have to intermingle. On paper looks a daft idea but evidently where it has been tried it works! Parking is not permitted but normal business stops such as loading and unloading are OK. Also disabled etc. can stop long enough to complete their business. |

I wont make any difference what the people of Silsden suggest to Bradford highways, they have never listened in the past and they will not listen in the future. |
